Rear tire cupped about 6 inch area. *PIC*

Upon removing my summer setup 162s with Bridgestone RFTs to install my winter setup, I noticed my tires were chopped in the inner part, but only a 6 inch patch. I have had an alignment about 8,000 miles ago and have been running on my stock runflats for about 20k miles now. Would you suspect the tire to be out of balance which caused this cupping issue in only one part of the tire, or would my suspension or alignment be at fault? I will take the car for another alignment tomorrow.

Its very strange to hear that you only have a cupping issue around a 6in area... Any kind of burn outs or locked brakes?

No burnouts or locked brakes. Could it be an unbalanced tire?

Are you positive it is only cupping within that 6" area? This looks to be a possible toe out issue that is causing the cupping on the inside of the tire or a under inflated tire.

Yes it is only in the area pictured. Other than that area, it is normal as the wear should be. Notice in the bottom of the second pic, the deepest part of the cupping.

After looking closer I can see it now. That is extremely strange just to have a patch like that. I would take it in and get a alignment inspection before moving in further.
