BMW iPhone app not showing location of car. Any advice?

hello forum

when i first downlaoded the bmw app onto my iphone i was able to locate my bmw by way of a red dot displayed on the screen. your current location would display as a blue dot and your car as a red dot. a few days later for some unknown reason the feature had stopped working...bmw have been useless in helping me out so i was wondering if any forum member has experienced the same problem and found a solution.

kind regards

Mine still works OK - you can only see the car however in the 'overview' map where it also seems to show the cars last journey.

Mine has a red dot which I pinned as my home address - a green dot which I think is my phones calculated position and a blue dot with a circle around it which says 'current location'

The green and blue dots might be the other way round though, the green being the car and the blue the phone - can't tell as the car is parked outside so they are both in the same place!

Google local search just shows a blue dot.

You could always try deleting the app from your iphone and reinstalling it.... seems to work for most other apps where they seem to have gone astray.

Is this app pointless unless you have Idrive?

does it work on the F10 with Idrive?

I've got a late 2008 e92 coupe and I've found that I only get my location which is a blue flashing circle/dot. I tried it when my car was at home, but it only gave me the location of the phone rather than the car.

Checking back on itunes the my bmw remote still says the the following

The technical requirements for using BMW Assist are as follows:
Professional or Business navigation system with integrated Bluetooth telephone preparation.
• Do you drive a BMW 7 Series built from October 2010?
• Do you drive a BMW 5 Series built from October 2010?
• Do you drive a BMW X3 built from November 2010?
If so, you can use the following functions with the “My BMW Remote” app installed on an Apple iPhone:
> Remote Door Lock & Unlock
> Remote Climate Control
> Remote Light Flash: remote control of configurable exterior light functions to locate the vehicle
> Google Local Search: address destination search on the iPhone and transfer to the vehicle navigation system
> Vehicle Finder: display of current vehicle position on a map in the iPhone – for locating a parked car within a radius of up to 1,5 kilometre.
Or do you drive any other BMW model built from September 2008*?
If so, you can use the following services:
> Remote Door Lock & Unlock
> Google Local Search: address destination search on the iPhone and transfer to the vehicle navigation system
*Except X3 models built before September 2010 and Z4 models built before 2009.

The new app that came out in December is called BMW Connect and can only be actively used in BMW vehicles with special option code 6NR available after March 2011.
