Can I swap my ECU for another ECU from similiar car?

I have a 2006. I saw an ECU on Ebay for a 2006. I was thinking of getting a performance software flash, but wanted to keep the car running while I am waiting for the ECU to return. If I purchased another ECU, and threw it in my car would the car run with any issues?

I have a 2006 325i RWD.
I was going to purchase a 2006 XI ECU online.

Any issues?

I talked to Craven, he said the simple answer is no

This is not going to work without heading back to the dealer to fix the code problems when the VIN does not match...
