BMW Performance short shifter on M-sport?

I'm looking at the BMW performance short shifter, and I'm wondering if anyone has installed this on an M-sport package car, and can verify that the shift lever was a different part from the one that comes with it.

I haven't seen any mention of the M-sport pack including a short shifter, but I know this has been the case with some previous BMW models.

thanks for any info.

Some e46 3 series (performance package) came from the factory with the same shift lever as is in the BMW performance shift kit. I wanted to make sure the same thing isn't happening here before I order the parts.

Yes confirmed. The lever which I am calling the wiggly bit that does down to the gearbox assembly is indeed shorter than the one provided on the M Sport pack. See post above

The Boot & Knob are also different in the SSK than the M Sport branded knob - Im not a fan of the Alcantara boot or the weighted shifter - To each their own of course but I just felt that little bit of trim that didn't match anything else just looked a little funny - So I sold them to a fellow 1 Addict back in '08 - This explains why my pics referenced from post above have my original M Knob & Boot.

Awesome, thanks guys that's exactly what I was after.

I also don't like the alcantara stuff and was planning to use the stock M-sport pieces. That's great to know they'll fit with no problems.

thanks again, I really appreciate the help.

Just so you know, I don't like the alcantara and the cheap looking shift knob either so I ordered the SSK without either bits and saved myself USD100.

dan@unitedbmw will sell you the SSK with or without the boot/lever. Save yourself some money buy ordering just the kit.
