Is it even worth it?
You guys tell me, is it even worth it to mod a 325? I've been seeing alot of doubt on the forums about this topic and quite frankly I'm neutral about it at this point. I'm not sure if I want to start dumping $$ into my 325 just for a little extra "kick". Personal experience and opinions would be appreciated

Haha man, I have one too..but really..its all up to you. If you want a big jump in power. Just trade in/sell go with a 335 or M3 even. But I mean if you want you can get little subtle mods like BMS PB, CAI, exhaust, a drop, and some wheels. Like I said..go with a 335 or M3 if you want the power..other than that I wouldn't see why you don't want to keep the 328?

Thanks for the insight. Well to answer your question, right now I'm kind of at a point where I feel as if the stock 325 is a bit bland and I'm debating whether or not it is worth to money to start tampering with the engine and whatnot.

Depends on a few factors
How much money do you have?
How much do you love your car? (you have AWD?) How much warranty is left? In my case, I could build a 330i for much less than buying one. If you just want to go fast, buy a new mustang. If you have to have the BMW, and money is tight, and warranty is out. Modding is a no brainer.... Start with the PBX. Because if you don't like it, you can sell it. And your out nothing but your time...

I wouldn't put money into a 325i if I were you. The gains you will gain will hardly be noticeable and not worth the money you put into it. IMHO you should save up your money and buy a car that you will like a lot more than your 325i. Good luck

Find someone selling a 330i and drive it
The mods you are talking about will turn your 325i into a 330i. (And you won't have to spend $5000. So the question really is, would a 330i be fast enough for you. The simple answer is to drive one, because that is what you are building.

Not really-that is yet to be seen in years that someone successfully did a true 330i conversion. People have tried but no one successfully who got the entire power and driveability. Not to mention with a 330 you can further mod with tunes and get 10 more hp.
you can get some gain but I say the BARE minimum worth keeping is a 330/530. Anything else honestly is just an absolutely slug muffin |

The 530i is slow
The 330i, 530i, and 325i all have the size engine. A 3.0
So now its about Modification and weight. The 530 is the heaviest in the bunch, and maybe the slowest?! Please don't go the 530i route unless you have 3 kids and a coffee fetish... Now a 2008 BMW 535 might have room to argue...

i would just do the BMS Powerbox to start. everything else is so expensive and wouldn't give you nearly the same amount of gains for the price.
if the modding bug starts showing up then you can always do more latter but with a 325 you have potential but you basically changing it to a 330 so i would dive a 330 and see if that is fast enough for your taste. even with my 330 i had to tell my self when enough was enough for the engine mods |

if you just want to up the "fun to drive" factor of your car, just do suspension upgrades. swaybars, springs/shocks/coilovers etc will make the car fun without needing to increase the power. Just depends on what you're looking for in a car really.
But yes, a tune of some sort is an easy way to gain power. |
