N55 Engine
Just thinking about changing my current E90 335i with a newer version (with new idrive etc).
When did BMW introduce the new single turbo engine? Just wondering because it seems that the new engine cannot be mapped as much as the old N54 twin turbo? Also, while I'm here, any new options that I should look out for on a new model?

Thanks. I agree, they do sound a bit dull. Probably to do with emissions and all that boring EU stuff!!!
That's put my mine at rest that I can look for a 2009 model 335i knowing that it will have an N54 engine thats mapable!

Thought the new one was mapable? The N54 with all its problems is the only car that I have decided not to replace. There is just something about the N54.

Yes, the N55 is mappable but I believe that at the moment the max is about 350bhp and not as much torque.
