Individual Series

Does anyone think that BMW will release an Individual Series version of the upcoming M3?

And does anyone know if the individual series is available in the US. I have seen that the M5/M6 can be configured in the global site but not once in you are in your country selection. I just love the the Polar Grey Leather and Black Piano Finish trim

Yes there will most likely be a individual programme for the M3. But I don't know if it will be available in the US. They started with the Individual 7 series so the M3 could very well follow...

Best regards, south

my dealer told me they will NOT have individual in the US, they originally planned to but scrapped it and stopped the exceptions they used to do on E46's like individual leather and individual paint. he said the only car they will do individual on in the US is the 7 series and the 6 series, and that the E46 was the last car they allowed exceptions on.

I have heard that you can pay an additional sum ($2k-4k?) and order your car with a non-M color paint, but the only stipulation is that the color you want must be used somewhere in the current BMW line-up. Does anyone know if this is true? I'm hoping to get one in Electric Red instead of Imola. I saw an e46 M3 for sale once that had been ordered in ER. I'm in the US.

like i said above, the E46 was the last car they allowed these exceptions on... they most likely will not do it on any E90/2....M3 or otherwise.

You can always get some custompaint job done. Design your own color.

That is a potential deal breaker for me. Color is high up there.

What color are you looking for. Is your E46 an individual color?

I'm looking to get an E92 M3 in Electric Red instead of Imola Red. My E46 is Electric Red, but it was a standard color for the 330i at the time.

I'm hoping that they retain Laguna Seca Blue, that colour is fabulous.

It seems odd that in a car culture known for its indivduality, they won't offer a full Individual range in the States.

unfortunately BMWNA doesn't offer the individual program for any car other than the 7 series right now. they discontinued the program in the US quite some time ago, citing that the unique combinations dont hold value well and drive down bmw's depreciation stats here, particularly for leases. this is all information straight from the horses mouth that i gleaned in a 3 month fight i had with BMWNA on this issue when i was considering buying the m6. ultimately its the reason i didn't purchase that car.

the short of it is that the only way US residents can get individualized colors on non-7-series models would be through BMW's diplomatic program, their military program, or their corporate order program, which is an overwhelming minority of people.

its another unacceptable example of the disparity of BMW quality here in the states compared to in the EU. rumor has it that bmw might be reintroducing the individual program in NA for its full line of cars down the line soon, and that the 7-only individual program is bmw's attempt to slowly roll the program back out stateside. but for the time being we don't have it, and we definitely won't have it for the m3's first year of production.
