Jailbreak iPhone == Any carrier?

Sup guys,

might sound stupid but here we go. If I jailbreak my iphone, which I just did with Pwnage Tool does it mean I can use any carrier right away? I have cydia and everything, so do I need to install something else or I am good to go?

No, you need to unlock it so you can use it with any carrier. Jailbreak is just half of it.

what's your baseband? if it's 01.59.00, you can unlock it with untrasn0w.

Can't use any carrier, only the GSM carriers which is primarily AT&T or Tmobile in the states. Not sure about Canada

once unlocked, you can basically use with any carrier that has a sim card; iclarified.com ftmfw!!!

Only GSM Carriers, no CDMA Carriers.
Your internet will be limited to Edge network if you don't have AT&T.

this was how i unlocked my phone...

my phone service is tmobile and i had this at&t phone, so i needed to unlock it. my girlfriend has at&t service, so what i did was put her sim card in that at&t phone and called up at&t and had them unlock it for me. i was going to asia and i wanted to use that phone while i was in asia, so i needed it unlock. and they gave me the code to unlock it and it worked =) hope this helps =)

Only GSM, CDMA is a no go...Verizon is a no go, they are getting one in January anyways

not that easy on an iphone.

The new iphone 4g comes with FW 4.2? Am I able to unlock it and jailbreak? Will it be tether or untether?

This wont work at all. As stated you need quite a few more steps for an Apple device unlock. The iphone 4 also uses the newer micro SIMs.

Unless your on one of the 2 listed devices. It is still tethered. You can Jailbreak 4.2.1 but if your BB is 02.10.04 (iPhone4) the unlock is still in the works.
