Sweet dude! What DSC setting did you have your car on? I cant wait to take the M out there this year. However, I do still need some more practice in it because it drives way different then my 335.

I only clicked it once... Just to get comfortable and remember the track for the first two sessions. The third I turned it all the way off... It was fun!

Here's mine, thanks to Matt!!! It is ~long~, and was almost the entire session I had with Matt's camera suctioned to the roof, and Matt in the passenger seat. Check out the Porsche at 6:30, and the mistake at 14:47 going into turn 8. (It's the last time going 'round.) It doesn't look like too much in the Video, but I think Matt thought we we're going into the weeds. Edit: the Porsche that passes me is at 1:00 of Matt's 3rd video above, yes, I pointed him by, but I didn't need to, he was soooooooo fast.

What were your top speeds at the end of the long straightaway before the downhill turns?
I lapped HPR last year and could only get to 125mph. My car is a stock 335xi. |

130 'indicated' sounds 'bout right. I often miss seeing that, because I'm too busy looking out the windshield, and even a fraction of a second delay could be disastrous. In the summer, (but not in the vid/that day) I threshold brake to about 75-80 mph, well, that's what I see after finishing that turn, which is turn #4. I marginally accelerate out of apex with that turn, I mostly just try to "survive" it.

No. HPR is the only track I've been to. We might have met at Bandimere last year. I showed up late and could only make one run which was a 14.2 at 98mph.
What was the most number of consecutive laps you ran? There were very few people when I went but between feeling like I was totally abusing my car and the brain fatigue from concentrating I would only do 4-6 laps at a time. Did you lower your tire pressures before lapping? |

As for number of laps, I've gone entire 30 minute sessions, 12-13 laps. I do get tired in the afternoon, and you ~do~ have to drink a lot of water, and eat too.

Good info.
Some uninformed driver when I went out there told me to lower my tire pressures since higher pressures will result in a smaller tire contact patch. After lowering the pressures for my last set of laps, I could feel the shoulders rolling under. I also pulled off a newbie mistake. I arrived at HPR with only 1/2 tank of gas thinking I would lap quicker with a lighter car. My 1/2 day turned into a 1/4 day since I quickly ran out of gas. |
