Service history

Is there anyway I can track back on service history guys?
Reason is that the car I bought the service book was lost, garage gave me a new book so I thought I would track it back.

I rang BMW where the car was originally bought but they have no info on the car being serviced, the car is only 3 yr old so would be stupid not to service it cos it voids the warrenty.

Thanks.

Yes, BMW hold all service/warranty visit data centrally.

A dealer can access and print this off for you, but they might direct you to BMW Customer Services....where there is a charge to do this (iirc)

The warranty in first 3 yrs will still be valid if serviced elsewhere, so long as using OEM parts, and each of these carries its own warranty. You should have the reciepts though to show for it.

My car is non-dealer serviced since it was 3yrs old.

Also what is the mileage, usually the car will only have one service in 3 years depending on mileage.

Do some research and find out about the car. Then acquire a service book and get the people who did the work to complete it.

I've spoken to BMW which said there's no record of it being serviced by BMW, if it has been done by a third party garage is there anyway of tracing this back or finding out which garage has done it.

The car was just over 33k miles when we Picked it up, is the a chance it's only been done once ?

Thanks

Could have been done just the once - my 320D is at 24k, has had 1 service & is claiming another 13k miles until the next one is due.

Look at any documentation that you have and contact any garages that it may have passed through. Look at the number plates - where was it supplied? Tax disc holder - same?

FYI, mine is 3 years old (just) with 40k on the clock. So far it has had:

- Oil service at 18m old (22k)
- Brake fluid change at 2 years old (27k) - plus AUC "check" when bought
- 3 year inspection, plus MOT - last month

That's all!

It is due a second oil service in 800 miles.

It was a repo, a small garage in Newport was selling it for the finance company, car was bought from BMW in Oxford but I've spoken to them already.

The computer is ready 4k miles over due so it booked in nxt week so I'm gonna get the lot done.

Looks like I'm gonna have to face facts and start fresh with the service book I think.

Thanks for the info and help guys.

A service history is important - and valuable. Here are another couple of thoughts:

- If you know where the car was located (geographically) phone several dealers in the area to see if they did some work on the car.

- The V5 or the previous owner would be good starting points

- Try contacting the finance company

- Could the DVLA help? They may not give you a name, but may point you in the right direction if you explain the problem

- Try the AA. Tell them the problem - they seem to know everything about cars and who owns them

You may find that a couple of hours on the phone could pay dividends.

Just a thought about what's be mentioned, it's 4k over due on the computer which would put it 29k when it was due.

Is there any chance that could of been the first one do you think ?

I think the first service on my car was done a 25k, but that was done in a couple of months after the car was bought (was a motorway muncher), so 29k might be possible with CBS.

Did you try the premium number that is on the BMW website? They say that they can tell you about every single visit the car had to their dealers.

Just asked about services but will try again and see if anything else has been done.
