Just springs or full coilover system?

I've been trolling on E90 post and I notice that a lot of owners only buy springs to upgrade their suspension. Why is this instead of buying the full coilover system besides cost?

Mostly because 90% + will not take their cars to the track. So why spend the money, they just want the look.

Ah ic. I thought maybe for some reason the stock struts are ok on BMWs. Maybe not?

lowered spring only and fully coilover the handleling totaly different . I d say coilover is way to go

And what was your personal choice on this ultra low (way too low IMO...) 330i of yours.

spring - look
coilover - look + performance

even though i don't track it, i would go with coilover if necessary.

If you're talking about handling and the car in the pictures is yours. LOL. I don't mind that people like to slam their cars for looks, but don't fool yourself into thinking it handles well when it's riding on the bumpstops.

Cost, and because many people are doing it for looks and aren't worried about the performance.

Ahhh I see. Well since I have coilovers on my current I'll probably opt for some 16 way adjustable damping coilovers for whatever new ride pops up. The adjustability of them is nice to have.

I don't know about raising it in 15 minutes. It takes me well over an hour to do all 4 wheels ... but then again I don't have a lift or air tools.

Since we are on this topic. Is coilover suspension require service ? at how many miles?

I think you can get the bushings/internals replaced after like 100k. At least you can with Teins. I'm not too sure about BMW specific parts though.

Honestly, if you have to ask that question the answer should be neither. Learn the car first, then figure out what, if anything, you need to change to make it better.

That's pretty much it. Chances are that little if anything will need changing for the vast majority. BMW sets the ride height up pretty nice from the factory. Some people will lower anything.

I completely agree, I always drive my cars for at least a year before doing anything so I can completely learn the cars ins & outs...
