Space Grey with 309 alloys

picture of my X3 which I got delivery of in December. Will write a full review when have more time but so far it has exceeded my expectations in terms of looks, ride quality and interior space.

Love this combination of colour and alloys. Looks awesome IMO. I have ordered titanium silver + 309s but I'm tempted to switch to space grey now...

Great to hear such positive feedback and very good to hear the ride quality is good with 19" alloys too. Thanks for posting!

Very nice! Are those mud flaps you added? I don't remember seeing those on either the 28i or 35i I looked at. Do they come with the 309's? If so nice additon!

no, the mudflaps were a dealer fit extra - about £120 for the four fitted if i remember,

some people dont like mudflaps but I always think a car looks strange without them. Also helps to keep it a bit cleaner

I think they have to remove the wheels and drill to fit (this was the case with my E60 5 series)

Love the wheels but then I would since I've ordered that option. How do you find the ride? A little bit concerned by some road testers remarks but it all depends on what they use as a bench mark. My A6 has had it's fair share of criticism too.

The ride is good with the 19" wheels but i suppose this is benchmarked against my last Audi A3 S-Line which was quite hard - it is definitely a big improvement over that.

have never driven a softly sprung car so wouldnt be able to comment on how it compares to that.

dont have the dynamic suspension most people i asked with other bmws with it fitted said they couldnt tell the difference between the three settings.

went for the variable sport steering though - think this is a worthwhile option as the steering definitely has more feel in the sport setting and isnt as light. I drive on the sport setting all the time.

Do you know what the difference is between variable sports steering and servotronic steering (except an extra £195)? I know that VSS includes servotronic steering and BMW say this

Quote:
Electric Power Steering, is incorporated in the BMW X3 for the first time, allowing precise handling and increased efficiency. Variable sports steering is also available for the first time as an option, and reduces the degree of steering movement necessary to turn the front wheels in various conditions including parking, cornering and swerving manoeuvres.
Is it that VSS changes the ratio whereas SS just provides more help (less resistance)? I guess that the sports setting adjusts the ratios to tighten things up?

I only have SS on my order at the moment but maybe I should upgrade to VSS? Damn this forum. It's cost me a fortune in extra options already and now more!
