weird question
i bought my car used and i really dont think its lowered. But for some reason the tires keep wearing as if the toe were off or something. First time around it was the rear tires and now after 4 new tires and an alignment the front tires are doing it instead. Is there anything specific i can look for to tell if the car was lowered before i got it and i just never noticed? Aside from the toe being messed up i dont know what else could cause tire wear like this

If you have the Runflat tires they are very sensitive to tire pressure. Make sure if they are the Conti SSR tires they are set to the correct pressure on the drivers door. My rears wore the same way on the inside, but I got 65,000 miles out of them.

Also, if you just had an alignment Id take the car to the shop and show them the abnormal wear. They could have made a mistake and it's out of spec. If that's not the case, show the tires to whoever you bought them from and see if you have some bum tires. It happens.

i got rid of the rft's right away, i hated the way they handle... i always keep an eye on my tire pressure too. i do think that it is an aligment problem now, and another member told me that these cars do inherently have some camber which kind of answers my question about it being lowered.
i just know that usually lowering a car will push the camber in (or out?) which is why i originally wondered if it could have been lowered before. Springs and everything look factory though |

I bought mine used and I thought that my excessive tire wear was due to the RFTs. I chewed through the replacement tires at an alarming rate. Turns out I had one of the worst misalignments the garage had ever seen. Tracing it back, the car was in an accident (which is fine because it was fixed), but the body shop that repaired it failed to do a proper alignment, so the problem just got progressively worse.
Point is, your car could have been lowered, someone could have completely butchered a previous alignment or someone could have farted in the wheel well... could be anything. Just get it aligned properly asap or your new tires won't last. |

i'm getting a new pair mounted on the front saturday and getting an alignment monday. Everything should be ok after that so i guess i'll wait and see what happens, if it keeps happening then i guess i'll investigate other options
