My E92 335i got hit today...need Body shop refferal in Long Island or Queens

So as I was driving to work today I was heading north on mineola avenue in the left lane (2 lanes on each side of road plus 1 lane on each side for parking). I was not speeding I was doing between 35-40mph. I saw a car pulling out of a parking space on the left side (my side of street). Now I assumed that he was going to pull out into the right line (I am in the left) and go straight.

As I approached him he abruptly pulled out and attempted to make an illegal U-Turn cutting across two lines and a double yellow line...Well needless to say his illegal U-Turn was not successful because my car was in the way.

I have attached a few pics that I took with my Blackberry Pearl. I will try and take some good pics when I get home tonight.

Bottom line is....passenger door is pretty banged up with white and yellow paint all over it. Door also has a few minor creases on the top from the impact. Behind the door the quarter panel was hit pretty hard and may need to be replaced to be fixed properly. The rocker panel needs to be replaced and there is a slight scratch on my rear passenger wheel.

Can anyone refer me to a body shop in Queens or Long Island that can do the job right? The car is only 4 and a half months old and I am planning on buying it out at the lease end. So I really want to make sure it is fixed properly.

Your thoughts, referals and sympathy etc are all being accepted

I am really concerned about the quarter panel...The door can be replaced but I really do not want them to have to cut a whole quarter panel on the car as it will never be right..and If they bondo it...chances are it will look like shit.

If I can make money on this obviously that would be ideal but my main concern is getting it fixed and done right.

Also when I open the doorinside the jam it is pinched a little on the quarter panel side.

YUP! thats New York City !!!

Doesnt pay to have a good car in that city, one time my benz hood was just hand-pound just bcoz its a nice car!

I know the feeling too well! Good luck on the repair, atleast its not a frame or engine damage!

sorry to see that, Trick50. At least nobody was hurt... money is always replaceable, not so much for limbs/eyes/body.

I'd use JMK BMW's body shop in Springfield, NJ. I think they're like the only BMW certified body shop in the area. I know that's out a bit from LI or Queens, but for sure, they'll take care of your car correctly.

nope.. wasn't me. I don't drive my car most of the week since I work in manhattan.

Good luck with the body work... and make sure you collect diminished value money... it really hit me hard when I tried to sell my 330i.

Sorry for not posting better pics tonight...but it has been some night....
but before i get to that...I went to rallye just to see out of curiousity (doesn't matter since I am going through insurance) to see how much it will cost to fix my car. New door, repair quarter, replace rocker molding, new rim and tire @$5200

So I got home tonight relaxed for a bit watched some TV went out to the garage to look at my car......this is where it gets interesting.

..wallowing over my damaged 3'er decided to start my bike up and warm it up for a bit.......pulled it out the garage....drove it to the end of my parking lot (about 150 feet) turned it around hit the gas a little and the throttle got stuck...i suppose because it was cold. i could not stop the bike smashed into a pole at the end of my parking lot...and flew over the bars (and yeah no helmut on)...Luckily I am ok.....a little scratched up feels like i have some fluid in my knee so I am gonna have to go and get some x-rays tomorrow. but the bike is mangled....needs all new plastics, headlights, gear shift mechanism broke off, and has a wonderful dent in the gas tank. probably going to cost me 1500 maybe more I haven't priced anything out yet to fix and thats doing all of the labor myself. Oh and did i forget to mention that I dropped the insurance on the bike to save some coin this winter?

Whenever body work is needed on my cars, I use AMX in Hicksville. They once needed to rebuild a 626 Mazda I had from the windshield forward. After they were done, it was better than it was from the factory.

Bro that's crazie just stay home, don't touch anything. Make sure you go to the doctor ASAP and stay away from heavy machinery and I sincerely hope you get better soon. All this craziness in one week, I would have lost my mind.

Damn man, Sorry to hear all this. Just becareful, maybe someone put a hex on u . Just take care of urself and go see a doctor,

I just picked up my moms 07 MDX from Rallye body shop (Had a hit and run). Cost 9K to fix, and they did a GREAT job, Inside was flawless and outside was flawless. I was worried about the interior because its a light grey and thought it was gonna get nasty. But Perfect, very professionaly. If insurance is taking care of it then i recommend Rallye.

Ouch and ouch, sorry to hear. You should try paul petrone's shop in bayside/flushing. 190-17 station road zip 11358, 718 9398200. The place is full of new bmw's with fender benders. It is down the block from the lirr so it is easy to get back to your car.

Thanks for all the sympathetic good wishes..!! I went to the ER nothing too serious, possible torn cartilage in my left knee..could have been worse I guess..I have to make an appointment to see a specialist this week....

As for my car I don't know what I am gonna do...I wanna go check out a few more places before the adjustor calls..

And as for the bike....I priced out all the parts....@2200

Really really sux.

Oh well guess i won't be getting new wheels and tires this spring...probably gonna wait till summer now.

Oh my life just keeps on getting better and better....
A few hours ago I got a call from a friend that I work with telling me we no longer have jobs that the owner of my firm (I am a stockbroker) closed up on friday night and sold the assets and clients.

We have the option of working for the purchasing firm....I guess I will use that as a pit stop until I find a good deal....

Can things get any worse?

Try Mid island Collision in Rockville Center. They are right across from a Mercedes Service center and do all there cars. They also do a lot of other European cars and really do great work. They usually hook u up.

Sorry to hear of your string of bad luck! They always say these things occur in threes. So with that in mind your luck is bound to change.

My recommedation for a body shop is Creative Auto located in Garden City Park.
The address is 115 Fulton Ave
Garden City Park
516-739-0510

They are a clean shop, excellent body and paint work. Ask for Joe or Bill and let them know that Andrew with the Acura referred you.
They will take excellent care of your e92!

WTF, DAMN BRO, like you suggested just work for the purchasing firm and hopefully they still keep you on the same pay rate. If they don't then you definitely should look for something better. Wish you the best of luck, and remember it has to be rocky for you to truly appreciate the smooth

new firm today...in a make-shift office for the time being. At least while I am here my clients are still mine. At least it gives me time to shop for a new deal.
