Difficult-to-clean wheels? Lots of bird s*^#? Got a quick tip for ya
So yes, this does pertain to wash/wax/detail and this is technically in the wrong forum BUT I feel that this is good knowledge for general consumption.
I have Miro 111s and as much as I love them (which is alot), they are an ultimate b*&@# to clean, and with our awesome OEM brake pads that are apparently made of loosely compressed chimney soot.. they need to be cleaned often. If you are like me, you go hit the touchless car wash (DIY with power washer style) on the weekends.. however as much as you blast the wheels with the power sprayer, there is still a layer of grime on them when you are done. Leading to like an hour of detailing them by hand. Ugh. So today, I figured let's try something new. I took a healthy portion of Oxi-Clean (miracle product imo) and mixed it up with some hot water, then poured it in a spray bottle. I hit each wheel (and the bird s*&$ on my door) before I left and again when I got there.. and discovered it makes an excellent and inexpensive pre-treater. The crap on your car just melts away when you hit it with the power sprayer. It still doesn't do as good of a job as hand detailing (nothing will, obv), but it will keep your wheels cleaner in the meantime. Save yourself some trouble and some back pain.. just a tip.

Dear God yes, as well as your clear coat if you're not careful. VERY bad idea OP.
Get some P21s Wheel cleaner gel Autogeek.net has it.

I mean I doubt it will eat clearcoat, and in any case I washed, glazed, and sealed my paint afterwards.. but yeah maybe you guys are right. Seemed to work great though.

I hope you didn't do it in that order, if you are putting sealant on over glaze the sealant is going to come right off. Sealant needs to go directly on paint.

Not exactly 100% true, some glazes are excellent under sealants. An example would be CG EZ Creme glaze, plays very nicely with sealants. I wash, clay, polish then glaze, seal and wax topper. No issues period but do make sure if you use a glaze it: A) works with a machine or by hand depending on how you will apply B) plays well and works with polymer based sealants. |
