To cradle or not to cradle that is the question........
I'm expecting delivery of my car this week.
I have the Bluethooth option and I'm looking for a new phone. I'm torn between the Nkia 6230i and the Sony Ericsson K750I. The two are priced exactly the same, and I really only need my phone for what it was intended to do: to telephone The nokia has the advantage of having the BMW Cradle... The Sony ericsson however seems to be the better overall phone. Is the reception without cradle so much worse? Some help would be appreciated. Hermanh |

Herman,
I've got the Motorola V710 with cradle. Verizon is my provider. Signal strength is always good or better. Transmission through car is about the same with or without the cradle. Perhaps in rural areas where signal strength is diminished cradle may be superior. For now I cannot hear any difference. BTW, Bluetooth is fully functional with or without ther cradle. |

Herman,
I have had the same dillema on my new 330i SE which I picked up on Wednesday (terrific car by the way). I bought an ericsson T630 on ebay and the BMW cradle and notice a considerable improvement in sigmal strength when I connect the phone to the cradle. We live in mid-Wales and the signal is a bit "iffy" at times. If you live in a high signal strength area I would say buy the K750i since you will not need the signal boost and all bluetooth functions are identical whether or not your phone is in the cradle. |

Thanks for the usefull info.
One thing that's still on my mind is batterylife. How does the bleutooth affect batterylife without the powersupply through the cradle? Hermanh |

Herman,
Bluetooth really reduces the battery life, I would guess on the T630 by about 40%-50% if you leave it on all the time. Of course you can switch it off when you are away from the car (if you remember!). Roger |

Thank you for the usefull info.
I went for the nokia 6230i cradle option, the power feed was an important factor, also beeing certified by BMW it wont give the dealer any excuse if it doesn't work Can't wait to test it......... |
