My wife's right foot.
I put the car on the 2 post, or jack up the end I'm bleeding, roll down the windows, have her get in the car, pump the brake pedal until it's "hard," have her scream out "hard!" then crack open the bleeder valve, then she'll scream out "floored!" and I close the valve immediately as the brake fluid is pushed out of the caliper and say "closed." She'll go "pumping!" and "hard" and the cycle begins again until there are no bubbles or "old fluid" coming out. Every 1/4 liter I refill the reservoir. My neighbors used to think we're weirdos and exhibitionists.

You can borrow...Um, nevermind.
Have a friend with you and use their right foot.

I am interested in a good option as well. My wife has been "assisting" me with this task in the past. I guess I never really thought the directions were all that difficult until last time when we got to the clutch. I tell her there isn't any fluid coming out and she tells me that she's pumping it. I say, Pumping? And her reply is: Yes, I'm pumping it up and down up and down. This all said with the bleed screw open. Ugh! I'm like how is it that you can be doing exactly the thing that I told you we are trying to avoid? Anyway, I believe that the ensuing argument used up any good will I have in trying to get her to ever do it again. Although I'm not sure I prefer her help over just purchasing a tool and doing it myself.
I did buy a Bavarian Autosport pressure bleeder and can tell you that it didn't work worth a damn. Nothing but a steady stream of air bubbles coming out. I'm not sure, maybe they consulted my wife when designing it. http://www.bavauto.com/ The other two I saw that looked simple to use were from Griot's garage. Hopefully someone can chime in on something that does work well. These are the two Griots options. Both look like they would be very straightforward to use. http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...bleeder+kit.do http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ake+bleeder.do |

i am just going to make my own i guess. theres no way im spending 80 bucks on the same 10 dollar piece of shit vacuum pump.
im just going to buy some vinyl line, hook it up, and put that shit in a water bottle and call it a day and just find someone to press on the brakes for me. why are cheap tools SO EXPENSIVE now???? at least i got a new transfer pump for 5 bucks at autozone yesterday. |

http://www.bavauto.com/se1.asp?dept_id=5278 Why "suck" when you can "blow"? Yea, these are still pricey, but I'd rather not involve my wife, even if she is pumping. Best thing about these are that they are idiot proof. If that means I'm insinuating that I'm an idiot, so be it. I bought the BavAuto one, but I didn't know about the Motive Products version. I still recommend it even with the price > $50.

Shop guy told me he uses a vac pump because of less chance of introducing air up top. Sorta makes sense. I have a Motive pressure bleeder. Could never get brakes as firm as the shop...

Been using the Griot's Garage "brake fluid evacuator" for about 15 years now. It's perhaps the best $70 I've ever spent on a tool. Hundreds of gallons of all types of hydraulic fluids (transmission, p/s, brake, rear end) have gone through that thing.

why would there be any chance of air getting in up top? as long as the fluid is kept up, its not really possible..

http://www.brakebleeder.com/index.ph...products_id=62 They have several different models at different prices...

On my S2000, I actually used the gravity bleed method on the brakes and it worked fantastic. Attach a line, submerge the end, make sure the fluid is full and crack the bleeder. It takes a good 10 minutes a corner but the brakes were always rock-hard doing it this way. |

Have used a Motive power bleeder for all my cars and it was so much easier than having to rely on someone pumping, holding, etc. etc. If you DIY brakes enough, easily worth the cost.
