State Referee Certification ticket,,,,
I got a bad news for me
I was cruising at low speed on glendale area, and CHP pulled me over for the modified exhaust.. He asks me if I have headers modified too,, I said no I only have catback exhausts on.. Also, he asks if I have an intake. I said yes and suddenly he forced me to pop up my hood. so I popped it up and he saw the BOV, DCIs, and orange engine cover. So went bak to his popo car and brought a digital camera and took photos of my hood. The ticket I got says 21756(b) Modified Emissions / on the back of the ticket theres a white sticker says ' state referee certification required / no officer sign off ' ... does anybody knows how much is the bail amount if I don't fix anything and just pay for it? Or If i bring my car bak to stock and get it checked by state referee, how much will the ticket be? I have Greddy type S blow off valve w/ z shift charge pipe BMS dual cone intake , Raceland dps, custom catback exhausts.. this really sucks |

wow, that really sucks. I still don't get why the hell intakes are illegal if you can pass emissions.

well you can not pay it off and forget about it that is for sure.. you have to a state referee and get is smogged.. and you have to put your stock stuff back on cause idont think you will pass with those.. cause then if you pass then you take that paper and take it to court to show that you had it checked out..

damn man good luck with this.
i went through the same thing not too long ago. just put everything back to stock and get it refereed. if you are clearing codes make sure to drive the car 150 miles after clearing them before taking the car to the ref because you'll automatically just fail because you haven't completed your drive cycle. and yes there are carb approved intakes. Injen for example is carb approved. it comes with a sticker on it so police wont give you any hassles.

That would be Altadena CHP, they're fucking dicks!!! Is the Officer by any chance Larson? My buddy got reffed in my civic like 4 years ago and paid almost 1k.
Also, if you get pulled over for the same thing again, don't let them know you got a ticket unless they ask. You're technically not suppose to be driving your car. |

Ah, thanks for the info. I started another thread in the engine section because I didn't want to continue to highjack this thread (was basically wondering why some Injens seemed to have different stickers than others).

surprised you got a ticket in glendale with all the loud rice there, what exhaust you have? I lived there a while and never got hassled in my Evo which had a pretty loud exhaust.
I think I'll leave my exhaust stock and just get downpipes.. will attract less attention. good luck! |

i got popped when i had my civic a few years back. No way around it since he took pics of your engine bay, all you can do is put the car back to stock and get it reffed then go to court pay the fine (i cant remember how much but it was about $100 bucks) that was in 08 though. Good luck

OP just pay the bail amount if you don't wanna go through the hassle of removing everything. |

I would just pay the bail amount because you are less likely to win. But it will be a hefty fine. |

If I remember correctly I also had to pay more for trial by declaration. It's been awhile so I can't remember all the details. Sorry. |

My buddy paid 900ish four years ago in Glendale. Did you by any chance get a fix it ticket for something else? I have some suggestions that will probably help if you do.
