Currently running 16" x 7" et34 with 205/55/16 square set up.

Considering going to 18" x 8.5" et37 with 225/40/18 square set up.

Any issue/concern running 8.5" up front

Any issue with 225/40/18 0n 8.5" Rim

You'll be fine running 18x8.5" up front. I'm running them with 245/35 up front on my car, 265/35 rear.
If you're not lowered, you may want to run 245/40 square. Put more rubber on the road.
I've ordered new tires and will be running 255/35 up front soon.

That tire size is needlessly small for an 8.5" wide wheel. If you had more aggressive offsets I could understand it but it's not necessary. I would run a 235/40/18 tire, it'll fit fine.
