N55 usb routing

I ran my usb cable from the ecu box to the glove box today. However, I had to use the first hole which may block ecu fan. I could see the spot where the second hole was but it was completely blocked off. Does anyone know if the n55 even has an ecu fan (the ecu isn't in the dme box so )? How did you guys route the usb cable? Don't want anything to overheat..

BMW did a 180 and said "Hey heat, you ain't got nothin, bring it on!"... in other words they mounted our ECU to the engine block...

There's no more fan in the box, so I routed my USB the same way you did, no worries.

Actually there is a fan according to realoem.com. but it probably doesn't need it. The ecu box is also the same part number as the n54, they just put some kind of plug to block the lower hole from inside the car. I took pics if anyone's interested but I'm just gonna run it how it is..no idea how to remove that thing.

Did you get a picture of the fan? I can't imagine what they'd be fanning off in there except for wanting to take care of the inevitable Procede box :-P

Lol. Nope I can't see the fan but it's listed here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...27&hg=12&fg=35

I just got a picture of the annoying plug that is blocking access to the lower fanless hole. Here it is:

The hole we are using is behind the cover above that hole.

I ran into the same problem and actually removed the box completely to find that the hole actually isn't plugged up. It looks like it but you can actually feed it up and it goes through just fine. Just keep feeing the usb part up through the hole and it should go right through. Have your buddy in the passenger footwell waiting for it so he can pull it through. Good luck!
