Fuel Economy with Cobb AP

Hey everyone.. I know it's generally not the priority, but I am curious, how has people's "cruising" fuel economy changed? I know with PRoceed people talk about getting an extra 2mpg when driving normally, but just wondering,

Definitely using a lot more fuel under WOT (duh), but can't say much about cruising since I haven't been doing a lot of that lately

I noticed a 3-4 mpg drop in fuel economy with spirited driving for 100 miles through the rocky mountains. I have not done much normal cruising yet, but I'll reset my trip computer and give you an update.

Its usually about par from stock.

There would really be no reason to use any more fuel on a tuned car.

It still targets 14.7 AFR when cruising just like stock and just like most other tunes.

What would set it apart is maybe how much ignition it runs in those cruising tables, which would also be similar.

Most people end up getting worse gas mileage with tunes because they have a heavier foot, however, the reality is they could maintain same or better gas mileage by driving conservative even with a tune.

Do you know how hard it is to do that!

Yes, which is why commuting I average 24 MPG, and on a weekend I average something like 17 MPG

That's pretty good.

Throughout this winter I've been averaging ~21 MPG (11.2 l/100km) on 80% highway.
COBB has decreased this by .5 to around 20.4 MPG (11.5 l/100km), but that is mainly due to lots of "Testing" on my part.

I am sure that warmer weather is also having a positive impact on my fuel economy, so the delta may increase next winter.

I'm running almost the exact same numbers. I did take a 200 mile drive and averaged 29 MPG.

during normal driving conditions, mpg shouldn't change from stock to tune.

BUT, it's when you start opening up the boost a little more from stop lights or stop signs or merging onto highways or making passes on the freeway.

the boost comes on a bit quicker and more freely - that's where you'll see the mpg drop, not at cruising speeds.

i used to get 26.3mpg with my JB4.

only had Cobb for 2 days and i will admit, i HAVE gotten a bit more agressive during normal throttle conditions.

got 23.8 since the Cobb, but after the feeling of "the new tune" wears off, i'll more than likely be back at 26mpg

Driving normally, my MPG has basically stayed the same. Driving aggressively is a whole different story

I'm on my 4th full tank of gas now from Dinan to Cobb. I lost about 2-3 MPG. This is Normal Driving as in shifting around 3000 rpm with no hard pulls. I did this purposely to figure out how many MPG was I getting with Cobb vs my Dinan. I use to average about 360-380 miles on a tank now it hovers around 320-330.

That's not good.

I'll test my car when I install the Cobb later this week and report back in a couple of weeks.

Huh? 17mpg is pretty normal. In fact, it's quite good. Lots of folks like myself don't have the luxury of driving 80-90% highway. My MPG is typically anywhere from 14-16. If I drive gently I get around 17, MAYBE 18. I'd say I also do about 80% city driving.

Sometimes I can even see the needle go down.
