Underbody/detail shots of M3 Concept

These were posed by jiM3 on Roadfly E46 M3 forum:

First, notice the passenger side brake duct does not exist, it is only a mesh covering in the bumper - probably means that this is not a finished detail yet:

These next are various blind shots taken of the underside (I didn't feel like getting into trouble crawling onto the platform to take framed shots):

View from drivers side under front bumper:

From passenger side under front bumper (more unfinished pieces):

Passenger side mid section:

Great

Finally something new to look at. I can't wait to see a shot of the underbody when it is on a lift and you can see the whole thing. Off to Geneva tomorrow. I get as many shot from as many angles as I can. This was one area I planned to snap away at but not much need now.

I think that's just display power to keep the battery charged.

Vacuum activated exhaust flap

Notice in the second to last shot that there is a vacuum device on the side of the muffler to make it quieter under low throttle conditions and louder under full throttle. Looks like they disconnected it to make it louder when they drove it in to the show.

Inside joke? I did notice the calipers are mounted very low, I assume to help with the center of gravity.

If one of the photos (the one with the "no brake duct" comment) is the front wheel, the brembo cross drilled rotors are directional. I am now familiar with the cross drill pattern in relation to the internal vanes.

Great shots. The rear bumper looks not bad in these shots.

It was probably hard to tell but I'm guessing there were no signs of subframe cracks

Greg, are you positive that is what is in the photo. I hope so. Altough I love the sound of my UUC Motorworks exhaust on my E36 M3 for long cruising trips it is simply too loud. This would be an awesome feature to have, quiet for cruising, loud for power and for audible joy.

P.S. Did not make Geneva. Cancelled flights due to East Coast weather AND a g.d. EXPIRED passport. What a serious bummer .

I used to have a UUC muffler on my E36 M3 and I loved the sound driving back and forth to work 25 minutes at a time. However any trips longer than that, I couldn't stand it. I finally went back to the stock muffler without any noticable decrease in performance.

When I purchased my E36 M3 the front rotors were reversed, something I didn't discover until I went to replace them before a track event. It didn't seem to effect the braking performance or cooling on the track.

Why does that rotor in the first picture look reversed?

Yes, I,m virtually certain. Several cars have active exhausts. You can see the vacuum hose fitting--what else would it be?

Does anyone else see the CF like piece between the bumper and the muffler in the very last pic? What is that?

You are correct, that's an active exhaust, had one on my R32.
