330i e92 query...?

Wondering if someone can steer me in the right direction...?

Was the 2007 (07 plate) a 258bhp or 272bhp ED engine?

When i went looking afaik the 272bhp engine was only available from 57 plate cars and then you had to check the build date. I think it was anything after July. But that is from memory.

You can check the co2 on the car, i believe it is lower too.

Not true - all 330i M Sport E92's are 272PS but the 07 (and a few 57 plate) ones are the older N52 indirect injection engine which are not Efficient Dynamics. At 57 plate, it changed to the newer N53 direct injection engine with Efficient Dynamics.

The N52's are more reliable, the N53's are more economical.

Thanks for that. So if they're both 272 how much more economical is the N53? Would a combined 39mpg versus 32mpg sound about right?

I have no experience of the N52 I'm afraid but comparing an M54B30 (E39 530i) with an N53B30 (E60) gives 15-20% more economy like-for-like.

Which seems to be about the difference between the combined figures for both cars, as well.

Is there a quick way to tell if my 330i 272 (saloon) has N52 or N53? The build date is Nov 2007 and it was registered in Jan 2008.

Cheers for any help.

No it was via an independent, 1 owner bought from Cooper, Sunderland originally.

Wasn't looking for much by way of spec apart from Bluetooth and Heated Seats. Just looking forward to getting back into a coupe with a naturally aspirated straight six

330i M Sport Coupe Auto (N52)
Low miles
Metallic Silver
Black Leather
Visibility Pack
Bluetooth
Heated Seats

Would've been nice to have DAB as well, but couldn't find the right spec at the right price, been looking for 6 months now.

Vis pack? Whats in that? Didnt think there was one on the E92 as the Xenons are standard fit across the range.

Sounds like a lovely car, how much?

Depends how many miles the N53 has done, IMO.
