Exhaust/Intake and Warranty Experience

I am considering an exhaust and/or intake for my 2008 335i. My only concern is the impact on warranty - I have the new warranty until 50K and then the CPO until 100K or 2014. I know this has been discussed a lot on the boards...but what I have not seen much of is anyone with actual stories of dealers denying warranty work based on doing these mods. I would appreciate any experience folks have had with the dealerships after doing these mods.

I've got an intake and I've never had a problem. The only big time thing that would bother would be if you were to get a tune and in that case you could just take it off before you go to the dealership

Who's your dealership there in Norcal? Intake has a good chance to void it if they can relate the issue back to the intake (meaning if you have suspension issues it won't effect it).....exhaust "should not" void a warranty at anytime but you never know. Intake takes a matter of minutes to put the stock one back on before dealer visits.

I took my car in a few months back with all my mods listed below....they told me "they can't touch my turbo's until i remove my mods". Have a good report with your SA/Tech and you have a better chance of going in blind.

Thanks for the input.

I have a few dealerships to choose from - Concord BMW and East Bay BMW are the most convenient. Though I could also use Weatherford or Peter Pan if it were worth it to make the extra effort.

Just call each dealer and ask the SA's there how they feel about your mods. I have a dealer I go to just for maintenance, the SA straight up told me he can't do any warranty repairs to the engine w/ my intake/exhaust. So I have couple other dealers who said they're cool w/ my mods and I take my car there (it's farther) when I need warranty repairs.
