Cobb Accessport and warranty?
Hi, I am not sure where to post this, so I will try hear. I am wondering if I uninstall the acessport before I go into a dealership, is there a way for them to find out. I am concerned with the warranty of the car since it is less than a year old. I was looking at the Dinan stg2 tune before, but like the idea that I can get a custom tune with the cobb.

Just uninstall the tune before a trip to the dealer and you should be fine.

Dinan tune = BMW Approved, enjoy it w/ no lip from the dealer.
Self tune = Not BMW Approved, voids warranty, will have denied warranty service if they determine it was from tuning. Not to mention the fact that it's shitty if you blow your shit up with a tune you screwed up and try to get it fixed under warranty. I have no issue with people who remove a tune and go in and get warranty work on something unrelated [i.e. nav goes out], but if you cause your own problems and then try to act like the car sucks and it shouldn't have done that, you're an asshole.

Could you please show the link of that thread. I'm asking seriously, not to be a jerk because Cobb had a BMW master tech try to find evidence of a tune after it was uninstalled and he couldn't. I'd like to see which code was thrown in case I ever have to uninstall mine. Thanks.

Just got my recall done for injectors and spark plugs. i also think they upgraded my software cause all my custom coding was erased . Picked it up today with no issues at all. Just make sure you uninstall the AP and you should be fine.

If ur worried you could always invest in a scan tool.

Dinan tune = BMW Approved, enjoy it w/ no lip from the dealer. WRONG!
If you get you're dinan tune from a BMW dealer yes, that dealer will support you. if not, and flashed somewhere else or the dealer you go to does not support Dinan they try to always pawn it off on dinan and want to flash it to stock. How do I know. I use to have Dinan now i have Cobb and Cobb vs Dinan is zero comparison. dinan is a nice bump above stock. Cobb is scary fast vs stock literally i have true fear or that preservation part of my brain kicks in when I step on the gas now. I am getting use to it though day six and I am still amazed with Cobb. 07 BMW here. The Dinan tune I use to have was stage1 it was not stg2. Dinan is top notch i give them that when i was first flashed with dinan i kept getting low boost codes and BMW would only flash back to stock flash and they could not duplicate with stock flash. So they blamed Dinan. I told Dinan they said it was not uncommon low boost codes because BMW turbos were not built to handle the higher boot or if they do it may be a matter of time before they go. I just wanted a refund cause i thought iwas screwed but Dinan stepped up and sent me Dinan's rebuilt turbos all free installed and all at the shop that i got the flash at and after that never had a problem except when it would go to the dealer and re-programing was needed then i had to go back to the dinan dealer and flash back he is 100 miles away so gets old very fast had to do 3 times in a year due to recall crap. |

So you went in with a cat-back and down pipes, and they didn't say anything? Which dealership is that in GTA?

Yes, by tuning your car, you do run the risk of voiding your warranty. It's never a good idea to leave the flash on the car for a dealer visit. However, with the COBB, you can simply uninstall the tune and scan/clear codes so that it is virtually undetectable. You can also read/clear any codes that come up for diagnostics in your driver seat. You would simply have the Cobb AcessPORT connected via the OBII port and scroll to the menu --> Troubleshoot --> Read / Clear codes and you're done!
The 2FA3 code will be present if the COBB AccessPORT is installed. This code will be removed in the next firmware update and doesn't affect the performance of the car in anyway. All tuner codes/error codes will be cleared when you uninstall or un-marry the COBB AccessPORT from the vehicle. |

Just picked up my car from the dealer. Found 2FBF, 2AAF.
Replaced HDP, spark plugs, oil changed, air filter and etc. Uninstalled Cobb AP an hour before brought the car in. Everything A OK. Not a word from the dealer.

Both of these codes are cleared when the Cobb is uninstalled. Cobb has stated that they will remedy this code, hopefully with the stage 2 software. |

I've tried to get the dealer to replace them and they haven't even though I'm at around 47K right now-so I'll probably replace them myself |

They changed the plugs at no cost under warranty. "Vehicle due for spark plugs replacement due per key reader".
