New To forum and BWM - Denver
I wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'm relatively new to BMWs having picked up a 2009 Monaco Blue 335xi last year.
After sorting through a number of fuel pump, injector, and VANOS solenoid issues, the car now seems to be stable, so now I'm looking at perhaps modding it a bit. Does anyone here use the Alfugen CSL wheels? The first thing I would like to do is upgrade to 19" staggered rims and replace the awful all-season run flat tires. Next on the list are exhaust and perhaps a tune. With the wheels, I wouldn't mind seeing the in person and would like to know if there were any issues with mounting them or using them on Denver's pockmarked roads. Thanks -Keith |

Welcome.
Can't help on the wheels as I'm still on the 162's. All kinds of opinions on exhaust. I ended up going fully catless with AR downpipes, Borla midpipes, and Borla exhaust. That was too loud for me so I added a Magnaflow muffler to the midpipes and it's good now. A tune will really transform the car, was the first thing I did. I went with Procede, but there are many opinions on which tune is best. |

Thanks
As for exhaust I don't want to go very loud, but want something throatier than stock. I've looked at UUC and Meisterschaft. I know there a lot more options out there, but these are the two I've looked at so far. As far as tuning is concerned, I've done a little research on Procede, Dinan, and Cobb. Main considerations here are is one better at altitude than the others and has anyone had any issues with warranty work on a tuned car. When I had my 911 modded, there were only a couple of maps that worked well at altitude. Wonder if that's also the case with the 335. |

You could just go with a cat back exhaust that doesn't replace the downpipes or midpipes, should still be quiet with 2 sets of cats in place to quiet things down. One guy has the BMW Performance exhaust (muffler only) and is very happy with it.
IMO, any of those tunes will work well at altitude. The challenge is the turbos aren't large enough to maintain higher boost at higher rpms. Dinan is the only one you can leave in for warranty work. Procede is invisible if removed, Cobb is supposed to be also, I'm not 100% positive on the Cobb details as I got Procede before Cobb came out. I went with Procede when I still had warranty, removed it for trips to the dealer and didn't have any issues. Who knows if the dealer would have any issues anyway as all my warranty work wasn't related to the engine anyway. Sounds like Cobb still has some bugs to be worked out for now though. Dinan seems to be way overpriced for the power, but you do get the warranty. Another guy here is trying to get rid of Dinan to get something else. There's usually more going on in this section, but a big group of guys went to Vegas for Mfest, so things may stay quiet until they're back. |

I've logged both the AP, the JB4 and even stock (bypass) at our elevation.... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=510693 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500597 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497869 Have experienced significant timing drops (3+ degrees) stock, similar on JB4 autotuning/autoPID (map 5), with even larger (5-6 degree) drops on JB4 map 1. Cobb pushes more peak boost (I typically log around ~16psi up here peak in the mid-range), but far more conservative timing & AFR's. Due to the more conservative timing tables & AFR's, the AP stage 1 makes similar power as the JB4 map 1, but smoother, more consistent and without frequent timing drops. I would look into either the Cobb AP or Procede, check out their features, and decide which is going to be best for your needs/wants. Both are going to make similar power up here, so it's just a matter of picking your poison. Happy modding -Brandon

Can't speak to the 335 exhausts, but I have the UUC Corsa exhaust on my M3 and love the sound!

Welcome to E90post, Keith! Hope you make it out to one of the local meets some time.
I've been looking at the Alufelgen CS7s as well, but I'm not too keen on getting 19" rims. A few of the other guys around here have gotten 19" VMR wheels, so they can comment on the ride quality and damaged rims, but with as crappy as Colorado's roads typically get right after winter, I'd rather stick with 18".
