Doc fees $45 regulated by the State of CA. Lot of us warned you here and on bimmerfest to make sure that you got all your $$$$$ negotiations taken care before hand. I hate to rub it in, but you're basically bent over right now. Sorry, but good luck on closing the deal.

This is the main reason I always negotiate an out the door price, to prevent little "oops I forgot to mention fees" from poping up.

Is the $290 just a "doc" fee or does it include the registration fee or someother state fee?

In NJ we have a four year registration fee up front which is about $350!!

Right question, here some dealer charges 350$ for "advertisement
fee for the greater Chicago area". My dealer told me I should not
pay that because I ordered the car (??)

I'm paying 200 in doc fees. I knew it was bs, but I got a much better deal than I expected so I accepted the fees. Even with my fees, my price off invoice is several hundred better than other dealers in the area....

Good luck with that and let us know how it goes...

I've had about 4 dealers tell me that their doc fee is $399. One said it covered the dealer prepping the car after delivery, car mats (I thought I had a choice on those), detailing, and processing. I think that is BS! so far Passport BMW in Maryland had the cheapest doc fee of $100. I haven't started the negotiation process yet, since I'm not exactly sure what model and options I want. I've just been putting out feelers to get a sense of the dealers out there.
