Ipod Locks up? USB or AUX?
I seem to have my ipod continually locking up and once had it run completely dead. Is there an issue with lock up I can do anything about? Newer than 3Gen for example? Should I have it sourced through the usb port or the aux port? Your help is much appreciated.

I've had a brand new nano lock up once via usb. Unplugged it, cycled nano power and plugged back in, and never happened again. I've had them do it while not hooked to car too. Keep it thru the usb, sounds better and functions with the car better. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I got tired of my Ipod classic locking up at least once a day, so I just bought a 64gb USB stick. Only thing that sucks is that you can't use playlist with USB stick.

does your classic display album art in low-res? that was also another reason I switched to USB stick. not to mention it's faster(skips songs without lag, plays without lag)

Also, loading the iPod to 100% of disc capacity will cause it to crash regularly when connected to the bimmer.

I had a problem with mine get the "black screen of death" on my Ipod Classic if I used the Ipod cord, I went back to my BMW cord and all is well.

I use mp3tag to attach the images to the files and Windows Media Player to create my playslists (make sure you turn off the auto update track info in WMP as it has tendancy to mess up some of the meta tag data - i.e. changes album name, etc.) and microsoft SyncToy to sync my music with the stick.

WMA does not want to make playlist from USB stick, it will only do so with HDD. Next I tried making playlist files with some other programs and also no dice... Could you upload a copy of your playlist file? I wanna see what kind of playlist structure idrive will take. update- Figured out how it worked. both m3u and wpl worked, and folder structure wasn't important. as long as file names were correct, idrive was able to load it up. My mistake was that it took some time for idrive to recognize the playlist files. Last edited by Losco; 05-15-2011 at 04:47 AM.. |
