Planning RALLYE MOTORSPORT 2012...Your opinion counts...TROPHIES?

Thanks Again to all who made our 2011 Rallye Motorsport Event a success. We are now in the planning stages for next year's show. At Rallye, we will meet to critique the 2011 show, do the 1st stages of planning for 2012, and then squeeze it all into a budget. The high energy, positive feedback and impressive turnout this past Sunday, gives me the "ammunition' that I need to gather resources to keep improving our show. It was also a nice surprise that one of our owners happen to pop into the show at trophy time and seeing the quality of the crowd and the high level of enthusiasm made a positive impression on him. That helps a LOT!

So far, George and I feel that with the increased size of the show, that we need more trophy catagories. Definitely an SUV category and an original Vintage category. Also model specific trophies (example Best E90) are needed in the most popular model categories.

We would like to double the amount of trophies from 5 to 8/10 to recognize more outstanding cars.

QUESTION????....."Will awarding twice as many trophies hurt the value of actually winning?"

We don't want it to become like Little League where EVERYONE gets a trophy, but with 120+ cars to judge, we think that 8-10 trophies is OK. What do you think?

Thanks for your advice.

Oh yeah, .....and for 2012 I'll get a bigger hat..

definitely agree with best e90, best e92, best e46 etc. and separate the SUV and sedans into different categories.

+1

Also, might want to make a non-M award... I believe all the winners were M.

e90post.com FTW!!!

Honestly it was great as is 2 years back to back..
More Food is a plus, a Dj would be great,
and as far as awards go, an award for every class would be fair..

Hahaha, I'm just trying to help out my e90post buds. Hard for 325/335 to compete against an M. And there were a lot of sick 35's there. Bmw biggest selling cars are 3 series (non M)

this looks like it might be turning into a HUGE event....ALL DAY.....bigger than it already is.....the categories are truly endless but as mentioned earlier you dont want to cheapen the event by having a trophy for every single little thing....but 10 categories does cover a great deal

I think if the weather holds out, you guys should have a concours section for the absolute cleanest rides. A lot of Porsche shows are done this way...and when I say the judges look for anything, I mean ANYTHING. Even dust in the air vents is points off!

I would like a vintage class too...I want to be able to enter with my 535 next year

Thanks Guys,

All good advice.

We actually have been looking into Monster Energy Drinks to come on board as a sponsor. We don't charge anything to vendors. We just want free stuff for the show people.

We may do the DJ thing in combo with the live music.

We chose to keep the show to 3 hrs to keep the action and the energy level high. The worse thing is when the pace of the show slows down and cars start to leave. Empty spots look like CRAP!

I'm pushing hard for at least 8 trophies. George and I will come up the the right categories but you can count on SUV and no-mod Classic to be added.

We can't really fit more cars than we had this year but we may have to open registration earlier and be selective with entrants. I don't want to turn anyone away who wants to show, but I want to keep the quality of the show cars high. We can't forget that it's a CAR show but the PEOPLE count too.

After the success of this show, we may get some more serious involvement from BMW corporate. George wants us to push BMW to send down some factory race cars. I think we'll see some cool stuff from BMW HQ. A successful show gets a lot of respect from vendors and corporate as long as we run it right.

The jury is still out on my hat.

I think that there should be a rule of letting anyone who enters put some where on the car what EXACTLY was done to the car. If you are judging a car; how can you tell what is done to it just by "looking" at the car? LOL

Great suggestion. We asked for list of mods when we registered cars on line but at show time, if the driver is not next to his car during judging, his mods can get overlooked. A mod list can definitely be a big help. Thanks
