Side + rear sunshade option on 325i
Hi,
I am living in Canada and I am plannning to order a 325i with the following options: Auto/Steptronic I Drive PDC BMW Assist + bluetooth Side + rear sunshade The dealer says that the side/rear sunshade are only an option for the 330i and that getting them is a special order and it will cost an extra $400 to get it on the $325. I am ready to pay MSRP for everything since it is a brand new model, but shelling out an extra $400 to get a $590 option (which is available on 325i in the US) is a little though . Is the dealer trying to rip me off, or is BMW really going to charge him that extra $400 ? Should I try to at least negotiate down to MSRP price given the number of options I am getting ? any hindsight/advice would be more than welcome J-M |

Although I don't claim to have any idea of what the Canadian car or BMW market is like, it seems like your dealer could afford to swallow that charge, if it even exists, given the price of the car you're buying at full sticker.
Have you shopped around? |

What that is BullCR*P!?!?!?! Check at another dealer. I ordered the 325i with the shades at the option cost. If anything the other dealers might eat the cost. I hope the Canadians don't get ripped off for that.

Yeah I don't know so much about Canada, but the last I checked, the sunshades are options for BOTH 330 and 325. I wonder if the dealer already has the order in and he doesn't want to change it. Maybe he wants to try to persuade you into buying what he has on the lot already (or what he'll be getting in). Dealers that are lazy and don't like to be helpful often pull that crap. Who knows, though. For all I know, maybe the sunshade is only an option for the 330 in Canada. The best thing to do is check around and see what other dealers are saying. |

The BMW Canada pricing sheet that I received from the dealership does not have the rear sunshade as a "standard" option for the 325i and at the bottom of the options list is the following:
Adminstration fee for ordering special colours, interiors or equipment...$400. Prices for special orders will be quoted at wholesale prices only" So, officially, there is a fee for the special order of rear sunshade for the 325i and not something that your particular dealer made up. It is rather silly to exclude the item from the options but then turn around and provide it "at additional charge" Personally, I would just tint the windows. I would try another dealership, even in a different city or Province. I am not looking forward to the buying process myself. Why don't they get European Delivery setup for Canada already, argh  |

What is wholesale price, is this like dealer invoice ?
For Tinting, I have been thinking about it, but I am planning to bring the car with me when I move back to Switzerland in the next few years and they have reallly strict rules for tinting down there. For ED, can't agree more, I would have love to pick up my car in Munich and drive to Geneva to visit my family and then ship the car back. |

What % tint does Switzerland allow? 35% is relatively clear and does a good job shading the interior. |
