Front Plate- NH Plate in Boston
Hey guys
I'm going to be moving up to Boston as many of you know but I will have a New Hampshire plate since my dad just moved there and the lease is in his name. I know that both NH and MA require front plates, but I was wondering how strict they are about enforcement. Also, since I will be driving in Boston with a NH plate, do you think they would pull me over for not having a front plate saying "Hey you need a front plate because NH requires one" or do you think they'd leave me alone since I don't have a MA plate so they wouldn't care?

I thought in NH you didn't need a front plate? I know there's a few guys at work from NH who don't have front plates..
Hmm.. There are tons of NH plates though. A lot of people live up there and work down here. I'll look up some dmv code..

Yeah you do need a front plate in NH, but I was just wondering how strict they are and if the Boston cops will enforce NH laws. Thanks

I see what you are saying. Can a Boston PD or State Trooper fine you for breaking the vehicle code of another state. I'll ask around at work..
I like your style..

I would highly doubt it. I worked in NY for a summer and took my front VA tag off...nobody cared. Granted, those states don't touch...but still. How can they enforce another state's law?

I would definitely give it a shot.. Worst comes to worst, keep your front plate in your trunk. Tell them you just had your bumper replaced or clear bra'd and have the plate and bracket in your trunk to install in a week. Then do the picus front plate mount so you don't have to drill..

the cops dont really care but the bad thing is your front bumper will be all chew up from parallel parking.
I only go out to Boston on the weekends and my front and back bumper are all scratched up from other people's parking

I should be fine because I have a garage, pretty happy with only $120 month too. I don't know if I will be driving it much, depends on where I get a job. It may end up being just a commuter to go to Connecticut (family) and Rhode Island (beach house).

nikki, i havnt had a front plate forever but i dont take my car into boston all that much. none of the cops will bother you about it unless they pull you over for some other violation. so dont worry about it you wont need a front plate in MA.

Lol yeah well I grew up in CT and decided to go to FL for school. Now that I'm graduating, I realize the jobs and money are up there and my boyfriend goes to school in Boston.

Not an issue. Unless you get pulled over for something else then they might bring it up. Otherwise I wouldn't worry. Plus Boston police are to busy dealing with the multiple homicides every week.

In MA, most places will not give you an inspection sticker if you don't have a front plate. Not sure how that works in NH.
I still have one of the older MA plates so I can get away without having the front plate.

i just get my inspection sticker at my bmw dealership. you can also just tape the stupid plate onto the bumper and then just take it off after the inspection.
