Like the title states I'm looking to get a set of rims and I was wonder what you be best for long island roads. I love the look of 19s but I think I might have to settle with 18s because of all these damn potholes. If anyone from nassau can chime in that would be great

I live in the SLUMS (South Bronx) and daily drive my car to downtown Manhattan to work everyday and I'm on 19's.
Just be cautious bro, but if your not that cautious of a driver and really are afraid of hitting something then safe bet is to go with 18's... For some reason 18's don't look bad on an e90, they do on an e92 tho IMO.

I'm running 18s on my e90 and 19s soon to be 20s on f10 and the only issue so far is bubbled out rfts. Depends on where you're riding mostly and how the roads are.

I would get 19's and keep your OEM as backup. Look for a quality wheel company. I'm running 20's with a conservative drop & no backup set and BK roads are probably far worse then LI roads.
Check out the below thread for more ideas. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=536428 Ooops, page 1 might scare you, start from page 2 =X

I run oem 216s in 18" zsp staggered widths. Ride is similar to the zsp rft 17s, but way better over rough roads. 40 profile front, 35 rear. Pre lci stock sport suspension. I get asked all the time if the car is lowered-between the bbs chunky hub double spoke design and pre lci rear track width & rwd ride height I couldn't image going any lower or with larger wheels.
I generally drive the same roads so I'm familar with what lane to be in where, but I will say that when I have to go to certain areas of nassau I am very concerned about road conditions even though I probably have enough sidewall. I'm almost thinking of throwing conti gfts on my 161s sitting in the garage to bolt on for trips out of my familiar routes. I have no idea how people do 19" rfts on these roads. |
