Just had a recall on my 4 week-old F10. Recall 0064650100, some kind on water ingress seal on the A/C electrics.

Effect Moisture can enter the vehicle interior through a hole in the housing cover. Vehicles concerned F0x F1x According to VIN selection (15.04.2011 - 21.04.2011). Action Seal the fan housing using butyl. Procedure Disconnect the battery negative lead, see Repair Instructions 61 20 900 "Disconnect battery negative lead". Remove the right/rear dome strut, see Repair Instructions 51 71 346 "Remove and refit/replace (rear) right dome strut". Undo the auxiliary electronics box and swing it to one side. Seal the triangular hole in the upper right area (see graphic below). Butyl must be used as the sealant, similar to part number 83 19 2 165 900. You do not have to order this part number if you have other butyl available in the workshop. Note: A maximum amount of 2 cm of butyl is required for sealing. |

Interesting. Mine was booked in on Monday but I had a call from the dealer saying "the part had not arrived from Germany" and that I'd have to rebook for the following week. If it just needs butyl sealant then what gives???

I'm assuming it's an example of dealer bullshit. Where did you find that info, Mud, and do you have the pictures that go with it?

Perhaps, but I can see no reason why you'd need to replace a gas strut on a four-week old car?!

Only one week of production so I don't suppose there's that many. I'm waiting for the dealer to call me when the "part" arrives.
