BBK necessary on 335i ...?
After driving the car for a week..I am pretty happy with the stock brakes...before I actually took delivery..I was thinking that a BBK was gonna be necessary. Now, I dont think that. I think some cross-drilled or slotted rotors..with some agressive pads..and maybe some Motul RBF600 brake fluid will do the trick for occasional road racing track use.
How big are the rotors front and back again? They look like 355 front..and 345 rear..anyone know for sure?

BBK is not necessary unless you're a hardcore tracker, I mean hardcore...if you plan to run Thunder Hill weekly then get it. Most of the guys I know just get it for show purposes.
Also I noticed that the brakes work better after bedding. Aftermarket pads and rotors, along with stainless steel brakelines and fluid should be good enough for you to track on! |

However, keep in mind, once you start increasing power with a Chip, Exhaust and what not, you may need increased stopping power and definitely increased fade resistance. Also, BBK do truly look Bling, Bling.

the brakes on the 335i are massive, maybe some better rotors and bads would be enough

Agreed. On my NSX I replaced the stock rotors with Stoptech Aerorotors (2-piece, floating aluminum hat, slotted) and Cobalt Friction GT Sport pads and it was night-and-day better. Another thing you can look into if you're getting spongy brakes is to run some ducting from the front spoiler to the inboard side of the rotors to improve airflow. Ducting is cheap but may not be simple, and I have no idea as to the practicality of the routing on the E90 (mine hasn't arrived yet), but the concept is good and results in measurable improvements in brake cooling.
