n54 Test car needed in LOS ANGELES. FREE FMIC (details inside)
I e-mailed cxracing about their current intercooler offerings, discussing how their rx-7 IC is a popular alternative to the "big tom IC" for those of us in the US. I asked if they'd be interested in creating a bolt on n54 specific intercooler solution including fittings and all required parts.
They're looking for a test car in the Los Angeles area. Kevin Xie of cxracing needs the vehicle for 1 day, and in return the person who volunteers will get a free kit. The pricing on these kits will be $450-500 otherwise. what's in it for me? i get the kit from them @ $200 for finding a volunteer Anyone interested? Any requests/suggestions? (dimensions, design, etc) Last edited by tofu-; 06-20-2011 at 01:56 AM.. |

Please PM me your name, email address, telephone #, and what times/days you will be available.
I'll coordinate with Kevin tomorrow and try to get something set up ASAP. If anyone else is interested, please let me know in the event that multiple testers are required or someone backs out/cant make it. Thanks. |

subscribed...would be nice if it was cheaper considering it didn't cost that much for the universal kits and the tubing, etc separately. But if its bigger than the generic ones i would pay $400 max with the tubing, etc. But wish I could be in so cal and do this...could more ppl get some special group buy of $200? I wouldn't mind helping to coordinate.

you guys can actually e-mail him now if you're interested in participating.
kevin@cxracing.com he's going to wait another day to see how many people volunteer their vehicles. he will be developing a couple different cores and piping setups for the n54. i would appreciate if you noted that you found out about this on e90post -christopher |

i personally have this FMIC and picked it up locally at their warehouse for $180. I found silcone tubing at a local radiator shop and LTBMW was able to make it fit.

i would assume these bolt on FMICs will make more efficient use of the space we have. perhaps more depth rather than height since our bumper covers more than half the rx-7 IC

This is how a company is supposed to do business...Their "bootleg" intercooler has already provided excellent results. Lets hope their n54 spec one does the same or better at a price sub 500

I am dropping my car off today for the mock up and picking it up Thursday, I will update you guys when I talk to Kevin in further detail. I will post pics, well whatever I can of the pics...unfortunately I will not be present at the time of mock up, but will hopefully be present at time of installation in 6-8 weeks when the production model of the intercooler comes out.
-Update: unfortunately with such a short turn around time between now and mock up I do not think we will be doing an before and after dyno to compare results, however I will have 6 weeks to dyno my car stock (I will uninstall my COBB AP and BMS DCI), then put back on the mods, then a dyno with the mods and the intercooler, hopefully all with similar weather conditions. It's summer in LA, it will be hot... Last edited by LAE92; 06-28-2011 at 11:17 AM.. |
