Inner Taillight Blew Out

My left inner taillight blew out the other day (the three bands beneath the reverse lights). I'm surprised, I've only had the car for only a month and a half. I'm gonna take the car in for servicing on Thursday. They said it should be 3-5 hours to fix and program it (why, I don't know...). Has anyone experienced anything similar?

yea, judging by the number of responses to this thread, I guess I'm the only one that had this happen to them. One of those isolated incidents, I guess...I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. yea, they're going to give me a loaner. Can you request a certain type of car or do they just give you anything?

I don't know why he said 3-5 hours, maybe complicated wiring or something? I just feel bad for all those poor E90's that got rear-ended. That must really suck, esp. on such a beautiful car.

3-5 hours? Do their techs come to work in a short bus? It's a friggin light bulb. Program? Let's see... ON....OFF. That should 'bout do it.

How many BMW techs does it take to change a light bulb?

the same thing happened to me about a month ago (had the car three months by then)

Car was in for the whole day too. I don't think it actually takes them 3-5 hours, they just say that so they can work it into the schedule.

I got the bulb replaced on Thursday. Left the car overnight at the dealer. I had quite a few choices for a loaner car - I was deciding between an X3 and an E46. I went with the E46 because I wanted to compare it with the E90. Man, what a difference!! I am so glad I held out for the E90...it made me appreciate the E90 that much more. That's awesome how BMW gives out loaner cars for free, I thought all dealers did that. I'm gonna go for the X3 next time when I have to get my aluminum trim replaced.

I think they wanted to check that there was nothing wrong that had caused the bulb to blow
