Cheap - Bug, Road Grime, Rock Chip Protection :)
Hey Guys.... I just thought I should share this... A few days ago I went on 3 day road trip and needed something to protect my front bumper & hood from bugs and stone from the road.... but i don't want to spend $350 dollars to have a ClearBra .... I only need a temporary protection that I can remove after my trip... So I found this "RoadWrap" ... I think it is cool and disposable... and it wont cost you so much... I drove from LA to SF then went up to RENO then back to SF then drove back home to LA

FYI, FWIW - the thickness of this stuff is about 1/3 that of regular clear bra film. According to the Roadwrap website, it says that the film is 2.5 mil thick. 3M PPF is typically 8 mil thick, but is also available with a 14 mil thickness.
So - if you're expecting this to protect against rock chips, don't be disappointed that it didn't do a good job at that (maybe only tiny rocks). For bugs, I'm sure it works great. Just an FYI. |

Yes guys it does take care of weekend holiday dilema of everyone... Bugs / Road Grim / Small Rock Chips / Sand ... But one thing i love about this is, it is disposable, I don't need to wear it whole year round... you can remove it after your long drive... instead of putting blue masking tape all over your front end... It wont compare with the higher end ClearBra ofcourse... It is TEMPORAY - It is HANDY - It is CHEAP.... I'm happy with it... I'm not advertising this... I'm just sharing it with you guys, who is looking for a temporay fix for raod trip dilema...
Also I have tried the Saran Wrap lol! It can't handle the wind... and it tears out fast.... this one doesn't... |

I don't know... for me it looks stupid and too much work specially when you are rushing... with GF, baby, car seat and other road trip preparation... I just don't have time to put on a 2 or 3" tape trying to put it on nicely... and in the end your car looks like it is wearing a super hero mask... I'll go with the RoadWrap... 18" X 100' and there will be lots of leftover for our next vacation...

I've read threads over on Autopia where detailers HIGHLY discourage putting on painters tape for hours at a time. They say that the adhesives can etch and things. I believe they said this was an ok choice though. Where did you buy it? |
