I had similar issue with my old Mitsubishi Galant. After it sat for like a week or two it started knocking pretty loud. Drove the car normally for about 10 min and the knock went away. I think it has something to do with all the oil leaking down to the pan if the engine has not been started in a while, when you restart the car it relubricates all the parts again.

you have the infamous n52 engine tick.. if it's CPO take it to the dealer. Check the stickies for more details.

It sounds like the lifter tick on the exhaust side. Covered under warranty/CPO.
If you're talking about techron fuel injector cleaner, it has nothing to do with this sound. |

1 week update:
Tick has since gone away. Never happened again. Is it possible that some oil sedimentation had occurred, being the car was parked for a couple of days prior? Are these engines prone to sludge buildup? |

Ticking is no way related to the Techron. It'sa lubrication issue with the design of the head and the hydraulic lifters. The lifters require bubble free oil so they won't tick.

The ticking will come back ESPEICALLY when it gets colder
You will need to get your lifters and head replaced. I hope you're still under warranty. There is like a ten page thread going about this issue. I had my lifters and head replaced last October because of the ticking. |

No warranty. I'll deal with it if I need to. What's the estimated damage (financially)? I skimmed through that thread. Very interesting. |
