Help...dealer Did Software Update

Hey guys, need your help/opinion/experience. Yesterday I got off the train, walked to my car, got in, and it wouldn't start (I have a 335i coupe, ZSP). The starter went and it tried to crank, but wouldn't turnover. Tried twice, then the third time it started, barely stayed running, RPMS dropped to 400-450, then spiked to 2500 then went back down to 800, 750, and then 500. I drove away and it seemed ok but I took it RIGHT TO THE DEALER. They had the same problem as I did this morning when they tried to start her up, the engine codes came back as a few misfires and what not. They said there was a bulletin out there saying that there was a software update. They did and now the car is fine they say.

My question is, was there not multiple mentions that people found an decrease in hp on cars dynoed before Shiv tuned them on cars that had "software updates" done to them? BTW, my car was built during the infamous fuel pump failure days.

Thoughts anyone?

How about that? BTW, I never mentioned anything about reading anything on the internet.

Actually - I have the same problem, first the dealer has to update the software before BMW will replace the fuel pump. I have been waiting for almost six weeks for a pump! Welcome to the club.

They say my car is running fine now, was yours given back to you and then the pump went bad again, or did they just keep the car after the software update? Whatever, I guess I will just take the car back and if I get stuck somewhere, WATCH OUT

BUT GUYS, THE OTHER PART OF MY QUESTION: does this software update rob any power from my baby? Shiv and others saw a few cars with lower baseline HP before tuning and they all had one thing in common: software update. Think it was just a coincidence?

Thanks everyone for the input, MUCH APPRECIATED
