From the picture (and the price) these appear to be cheap halogen bulbs with a coating to provide white(r) light. My experience with LED's vs. halogen doesn't stem from replacing angel eyes, but I did do quite a bit of research regarding each of these lighting technologies while an undergrad. To be brief, you won't get the intensity and sharpness of LED's with any halogen bulb. Essentially, you will get what you pay for. My general understanding is that the LUX's are the way to go. I have no complaints with my e92 LCI's angel eyes though.
I’d search around a bit and see what other brands members have had good/bad experiences with, I’m sure others will chime in with their opinions as well. Last edited by youngb4; 08-01-2011 at 05:07 PM.. Reason: typo |

really? can't u spend $8 to try them? they wont be like the LEDs that is for sure but for the $8 you are spending you will get whiter light than OEM. try them and see if you like them. IMO better than spending $200+ for LED. It is just each one's perception of value.

Before I got the Camaross upgrade I bought a set like these. They look alright until you turn the headlights on, and then the power drains and they turn back yellow. The headlights don't have enough power to run them and headlights together, and they drain the angel eyes. They are pretty bright as day time running lights, but you run into that issue of the inside ring being brighter than the outside ring.
But this is also talking about my e92, not sure what differs with the e90.

That's the way that the car was coded and it can actually be coded (a little complicated but it has been done on a 5 series (E60LCI) with H8 halos) to run the angel eyes at full power along with the low beams. the e90 LCIs WITH XENONS use the same H8 bulb as the e92 PRELCI. I have camaross' HID kit in my E90LCI and it is VERY bright. They look Incredible during the day. The only complaint i have is that the Halos with HIDs look too obnoxiously bright when i'm driving at night. So i am in the process of coding my car so that the Halos completely shut off when i turn on the low beams.. and i know it is definitely possible. Its also been done on a 5 series...

Definitely worth doing (at least gp thunders if the linked bulbs are similar) if you're like me and are looking for a cheap quick fix while you spend mod money elsewhere. I chose to go with gp thunders while I compile my performance mods and couldn't be happier as I was expecting very little from them. Now I do plan on upgrading to lux's after I finish some other mods, but I just simply couldn't justify spending $250 on AEs while I was still in the market for a JB4, DPs, etc. I'm more of a go than a show guy though, so that explains the method to my madness

Those are just a halogen bulb. I bet they get their money back on the shipping. (Yep $12 to ship a light the size of your hand, great marketing).
The craze of the GP thunders is amusing as well cause its just another halogen bulb. The only high quality ones are PIAA, Philips or sylvania. In essence all the Japanese companies. |

For the price you save on the bulbs, I say keep your 8 bucks. Don't cheap out and have the bulbs burn something in the headlights. Headlights are much more than 8 dollars!

Perhaps you should visit the vendor classified for options that are currently available.
Here is another site that has a bunch of options : http://www.highperformancebulbs.com/bmwaneyledbu.html |
