E90 325i M Sport - Engine

Hoping someone can clear this up for me?

I have a 2006 325 and trying to identify some details.

From my understanding there are 2 different 325's?

One is a proper 2500cc With approx 218ps and 250nm
The other is a 3000cc with around the same power but 270nm

Then obviously there is the proper 330 which again is a 3000cc but with 250+ps

Is the above information roughly correct or not?

I've read an article of people getting their 325's closer to 330's power but assuming that this is based on the 3.0l 325??

Can anyone clarify the differences in the 3 engines for me or point me to somewhere thats does?

Just trying to figure out if theres anything I can do to get a little extra from mine.

Cheers

I think the 3.0 litre engine was introduced into the coupe and saloon late 2007. I have the convertible March 2007 which was the first 325 to have the 3.0 litre direct injection engine.

Are the articles by US owners? The US 325i had a 3.0 from the start, being a detuned 330i engine. The primary difference is lack of 3 stage intake which I read some owners have retrofitted and gained significant power increase.

I think the most cost effective way of getting a 2.5 325i to 330i power is to trade it in

I know what you mean by 'proper' when referring to thr 325 being 2500cc, but to be honest as a clue to a cars cc the BMW number designation is history now. Apart from the very big stuff they all have either a 2L or 3L petrol or diesel engine in various states of tune and aspiration, right through from a 116 to a 535.

N52 6cyl Valvetronic was either 2500cc for the 325i, and 3000cc for 330i. The N53 Direct injection 6cyl are all 3000cc.
