Std vs BMW MTech (MSport) front bumper: ground clearance

Did a search and haven't found anything, so hopefully some of you fine folks can help:

I have a 2007 E93 ZSP with the standard bumper setup. Someone hit my front bumper in a parking lot and did a little damage (mostly paint), so I need to spend some money on repairs anyway. I was thinking of buying the M-Tech bumper kit from Tischer as a replacement as I like the sportier look.

Here's my question: I have a fairly steep driveway, and my current bumper has only about 1/2 inch clearance before it will scrape. Is the M-Tech bumper any lower (all else being equal) than the standard BMW bumper? If so, by how much?

Thanks!

If you don't get a response here, it might be worthwhile to go by your dealer with a tape measure and compare the clearance between the 2 bumpers. That would eliminate any doubt for you, since you could compare directly with your car if you desire.

sorry, dont have the measurement differences between the two bumpers but just wanna say that a 0.5 inch space is REALLY small.... are u measuring that space when trying to enter the driveway straight on??

I don't think the m-sport bumper is any lower.

The M-sport is exactly the same height - no difference at all from the ground measured on a level surface. What may affect you is the built in small little splitter lip sticks out a little more forward (not much, probably less than an inch), but that will make it a little lower when hitting the end of your driveway (probably will make less than 1/4 inch difference, but depends on how much angle you have!

Thanks, that's helpful...guess I'll check my current bumper for that 1/4 inch clearance, but I'm guessing I'm good to go...

Yeah, you're good to go. Worst case is you"ll have to approach a bit from the side to reduce the chance of the center portion making contact head on.
