Simple question about tune

Im gonna get a JB4 (PLEASE don't start a tune war, I made my decision and don't need to hear how uneducated I am about tuning or any reasons why to pick any other tunes. I did my research and read a TONE on it). My simple question is would it be better for the engine and the turbos if I get DCI? My initial plan was to get them but I really don't wanna bother with the install/uninstall. Im only gonna run map 1 and possibly map 2 for a run or two every blue moon.

dynos have shown an uninclosed intake shows power loss in the lower RPM range and minute upper RPM gains. Personally I prefer most of my power down low and I would assume for daily spirited driving or light track use it's more useful there.

Why didn't you get the procede? It works better with DCI! lol jk

When you say better, do you mean more power or reliability?

For top end power yes I believe it's better on the N54.
For reliability I don't think so...unless you wait for a dinan intake.

DCI for ~$100... worth the sound alone not considering the performance gains...

super easy install and not much money... do it!

I had DCIs for over 2 years, I hated them in the summer or at the track (I would always switch out to stock with drop-in). Just make yourself a custom intake and get the best of both worlds with no power loss, parts will cost you just a hair more than DCI's. See my DIY for a quick and easy build.

Regardless of the tune of choice the DCI or any intake will help your turbo's breathe.

Preferably you should look into a Stett CAI.

I'm sure you just mean tune in general. No matter flash/piggy, they all put stress on your mortor and components that the car was not designed for. As for piggy, tens of 1000's of them have been sold and I can only think of a handful of people on the forums having engine damage (and it's not even proven to be tune related). But to the OP, DCI's are safe however not very consistant when it comes to extreme heat. Since you don't have a way to mitigate the heat, Meth or FMIC, I would stick with the stock intake + drop-in or go custom.

Read Mr. 5's intake testing and see the results for yourself:

Run Map 5, I prefer it to Map 1. It is the psuedo autotune and will work perfectly with your current mods (Map 2 does not).
