Exclamation point
This morning I got an exclamation point with a curvy line on each side and some dotted lines on the bottom. Also has that same logo in orange above it. What does this mean? New to the BMW. Any help?

Sounds like a TPMS sensor warning. Check your tire pressure, as one or more tires has likely lost a bit of pressure. If so, simply re-fill and reset the TPMS sensors.

Wasn't trying to be rude, it was just the way you explained the symbol.. Also read the manual, it will tell you all about the symbols...

You can get your owner's manual electronically here: http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/content/owner/dgh.aspx
Go to page 84 of the 2009 328i sedan and you'll see the TPMS low pressure warning. Yeah, your description of the symbol had me scratching my head in confusion. |

Midwest King, I've had the TPMS go off a few times due to temperature changes. If the tire is damaged, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you buy non-run flat tires. There are many discussions about non-run flats on this board. The run flat tires (RFT) have very stiff sidewalls in order to retain their shape after a flat. Unfortunately, this results in a very stiff ride. |

I will definitely check the online manual when I get home. I'm currently at work and we are not able to get on some sites. So unfortunately for me, all I have is the bimmerpost app on my phone. But I do appreciate everyones help. My BMW is new and I am new to using forums, but I am definitely loving both.

Does it go away JUST by checking the pressure and putting in air? I always have to reinitialize the system to make it go away.

I guess this part from the owner's manual is why I alwys reinitialize it after correcting the pressure and never noticed if the light goes out on its own:
The system has to have been reset at the correct inflation pressure; otherwise, a reliable reporting of a flat tire is not assured. Always use wheels with TPM electronics to assure a trouble-free function of the system. Each time a tire inflation pressure has been corrected or a wheel or tire has been changed, reset the system.< So pretty much, you might not have the light on, but now your system has no idea what to base the readings on and if/when to come on again.

I've noticed that on my 128i, the light will go out when the low tire is re-inflated, but when new tires were installed (same wheels), a reset was necessary. Tom |
