New shoes at last!

My '07 E90 in Graphite is finally out of warranty, (though I have another two years of CPO coverage remaining), so I finally get to make a few changes without arguing with dealer service.

Anyway, I'm no stranger to modifications, having built a big turbo B5 Audi S4 the hard way, and still owning a rather nice and still legendary Syclone. I know what not to do, and when to say "when".

I knew as soon as I drove the car last year that the factory RFTs had to go... and with 32,000 miles it was finally time to make mine go away. I chose BFG KDW/2s on TR MT1s in 18x9 with 10mm spacers in the rear. Tire sizes are 235x40x18 in the front and 255x35x18 in the rear.

I'll snap a few pictures tomorrow, but I am not the first to mount these wheels. I am happy, though I think an additional 5mm of space in the rear would make for perfection. I will just say that I am angry with myself at having waited so long to ditch stock RFTs. They are unbecoming of the car's potential and having a proper set of performance tires mounted changes the character of the car entirely.

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Proceed directly to Tire Rack and order a proper set of performance tires for your BMW, immediately.

Thanks to Jamie at Tire Rack for the guidance. He got me out the door, mounted, balanced, and shipped with OE caps and lugs, plus fresh TPMS sensors for $1600.

i used to run BFG KDW2's on my old B6 1.8T too! i loved those tires... never really got used to the funky tread pattern, but performance was awesome. especially for the price too.
