I like my tires. I HATE Reward Cards. I was getting gas. I stopped before the station to activate my $50 rebate for the tires I bought for my van. Not the BMW. I bought those local here in SoCal.

Cool, $50 in gas. I called the number on the card. The lady at AMEX said, "The clerk will have to input it manually". When I asked him to do it he said, "Can't do it." He said, "Slide it like an ATM". I slide it, it asks for a PIN, I don't have a PIN! I still have the card.

From the time I first called to activate the card, to the time I used my own ATM card to buy gas, was 35 chronological minutes of my life, but my life was shortened by 6 months in bewilderment of what should be a really really simple thing. Holy Crap!! I hate reward cards. Tirerack! Do something else!

Separately from this ridiculously cumbersome annoying reward card bullshit; when I was buying the tires and wheels for my BMW, I was communicating via email with a TR employee about sizes, etc. Quick responses, helpful. I bought my new wheels and tires from someone else. I had a TMPS question and asked the TR guy about it. No response. I guess the $880 I spent on my van tires didn't qualify me for some respect.

That just bugged me a little until today with this reward card bull. Now it irritates me a lot more that he didn't feel he had to answer my question since I didn't buy the tires there.

I like things to go smoothly. And I like to be treated as a customer, not a sale.

I feel your pain...but this isn't Tireracks fault - that is unless that $50 card was specifically for gas. Otherwise, i learned this the hard way as well.

Basically, gas stations don't take rebate/gift cards for gas. For whatever reason, it doesn't work at the pumps and the cashier's wont take it. Similar scenario at restaurants - if you try paying with a GC, they automatically run it for 20% (just like a CC) more to make sure that there is enough for the total + tip. This way, if there is only enough for the total price, they don't get shafted on tip if you try putting it on the GC.

I never dealt w tire rack..I have always done my shopping w discount tire america..you couldnt ask for a better company..

A for example..my tpms sensors went out in both rear wheels..called up to get two replacements..the rep on the phone told me I was still under warranty b/c i had em for less than a year..I didnt even know they were under warranty...he just told me.. PLUS>>and this what blew me away..he told me to fax a bill for the install cost and they would re-imburse me..two days later credit back to my CC..amazing guys...

I feel you getting this mad over a reward card that doesent work at gas stations is a little over the top, but the other part about the question not being answered would annoy me also.

If it's a tire manufacturer's gift card, Tire rack only passes it along. You should be able to get the same gift card buying other retailers.

If it's Tirerack's GC, they still have the card company run the promotion. They do not run this.

No need to get pissed at the first issue. The second issue, I understand, but not to the level you are yelling.

Christ you are crying like a freaking baby. Get over it. BTW when it comes to gift cards the gas station could've done it manually but he's charged the max rate for doing the transaction. AMEX in general costs the merchant about 3 percent on such a small charge.

Tirerack should change this practice. Credit the $50 to my purchase or send me a check. No reward cards.
