Inexpensive non-directional 19" Tires
I am searching for inexpensive tires for my wheels.
The sizes I am searching for are: 235/35/19 265/30/19 Does anybody know where I can purchase inexpensive non-directional tires for my e90 sedan. Tire prices are getting out of control. |

don't think you are going to be able to find a "good" performing tire in those sizes for cheap, since that size is pretty much geared for performance cars. Though you might find some all seasons for a decent price that last for a while.. just don't expect great performance.

define inexpensive......
Some people say they are looking for cheap wheels, and cheap for them is like $4k a set, as for me cheap for me is $1k (wheels and tires hehehe) tirerack have Continental ExtremeContact DWS ($810) or Continental ExtremeContact DW ($874) and these are non directional tires. |

At $109 a tire, seriously don't expect a quiet, comfortable ride for a 30/35 series tire. That's asking way too much. A lot of engineering goes into the configuration of tires, thus the increase in price. And this is coming from a guy (me) that waited a WHOLE year to get some tires all while already having a mint set of 19" waiting in the garage. Above is the only reason why I bit the bullet and got my tires rather than waiting another few months lol. |

Thanks everyone, I will go ahead and buy the directional tire. I figured out the problem. I was having issues with my car shaking when driving (coming from the tires) as if the car was going to rip off the wheels.
Turn out to only be one tire that was causing the issue. My rear right tire is worn out on the inside. I can't believe one tire would make the car feel so shitty. |

Tire experts..genuinely curious...what are the advantages of directional vs non-directional..mine are directional..I know the obvious that you cant rotate the tires..etc..but other than that?...sorry for the thread jack

tread patterns are mostly designed to channel water out from under the tire. performance tires typically have big tread blocks for better stability. Bigger tread blocks are more prone to hydroplaning (less channels for water), so a directional tread design is used to better evacuate water (especially on wide tires).
usually, the tread comes to a point in the middle of the tire, so water only has to be channeled over half the tread width (out to each side), instead of the full width of the tire. So that will get the water out from under the tire faster than a non-directional pattern with large tread blocks. If you mount the tire backwards, the tread design will push the water to the center of the tire, instead of out the sides. I'm sure there is a bit more to it than that, but that is the basic principal. |
