Which Track Days are YOU Attending?

For the amount of time spent on the forums and installing mods, there have to be some local track guys here! I've met few guys from 1addicts and BFC but none from e90post, so curious who's attending the remaining events in our area?

NASA NE - Lime Rock 9/23-24
NASA NE - Watkins Glen 10/1-2
NJ CCA - NJMP Lightning 10/16-17
PCA Schattenbaum - NJMP Thunderbolt 10/20-21
NASA NE - NJMP T-bolt / Lightning 10/28-30
NASA MA - Summit Point 11/5-6

There may be others I'm missing but this seems about it. I know Trackdaze is down at VIR but doubt anyone would do that drive from tri-state.

I'm considering these two. Most likely will be down for the 16/17. Debating the 20/21st right now.

Either of the bolded ones I could do (preferably the 20-21). I've not been to a track before but I definitely want to attend ... are there any intro classes I could take there?

Last time I checked, the Glen filled up for level 1. Even without any prior experience, any of these events should be fine. All you need is car in good working condition and a helmet. But if you want something that's more tailored to beginners, I'd highly recommend the CCA event on 10/16. They have a group specific to first timers so you'll get a good overview both on track and in-class. I think they even lend out helmets as well....

PS: Only tough thing about NJ CCA is they do not allow convertibles w/o roll bar and are strict when it comes to tints. You can get pre-approved for tints by emailing a picture. Check their site and email their Chief Tech for details.

Yeah the 10/16 event I cannot make otherwise I would be all over it.

I have a coupe, but 35% tint, it's not that dark (just looks it because of my black interior/headliner).

I'll look into getting a helmet. Right now I am going to try for the 20/21. Shall I give the place a call and ask about intro stuff?

You should be fine, I think it's only NJ CCA that's really anal when it comes to tinting. Regarding PCA, definitely check out their site and give them a call or email. I myself have never done a PCA track day, only auto-x but I recall it being fairly well run.

Helmet - dont' order online, try one on in store. And you can get away with a motorcycle helmet so borrow a friends if you can. As long as it's full face (NJMP requires full face), you'll be good to go.

I'll be at the Glen this Friday through Sunday. Probably my last track event for the year as my work travel schedule just got real busy. I usually did at least one track event per month starting in April...sometimes more.

Just came back from Pocono (PCA). I chewed up 2 sets of tires so I'm done for the year, it was a blast though. Did one event per month starting in March (that was freaking cold), excluding August, I'm happy!

Have fun out there!

If you see a Z coupe, swing by and say hi. I'm running with HPDE-1

What tires did you run, how many track days did they see? Was it a dedicated track set?

How'd you like running with PCA?

No pace car (not that I know of), you will be overwhelmed with knowledge and instruction. It's an actual road course so you won't be just going in circles, or you may end up hitting the tire wall.

Seriously though, you'll have a blast. Best thing to do is to go on youtube and look up different tracks. A lot of good drivers mount cameras to their car and you'll get a good preview of the proper line.

I got 12 track days out of a dedicated Dunlop Direzza set this year but that's with very aggressive driving. Changed 2 sets of DTC70 pads and 1 set of PFC01s, 1 set of rotors. All dedicated to track duty only.

CCA is more focused on instruction, PCA provides more challenge and more track time, a combination of both is probably ideal.

Nice, this will be my first event with the Direzza's, curious to see how they perform compared to the V12s I had previously.

Jealous! I was thinking about Pole Positions earlier this year but couldn't justify it. Until then, I'll use the seatbelt lock trick lol.

Btw for anyone interested in CCA Lightning, I found out NJ CCA got a special rate at the Fairfield Inn which is supposed to be the nicest hotel in the area. Others may be cheaper but apparently there's no comparison. Normal rate of $99/nt, mention BMW CCA of NJ and get it for $79/nt. You'll have to call to get this special rate:

Fairfield Inn & Suite
301 Bluebird Lane
Millville, NJ 08332

If you already have not signed up for HPDE-1 chances are you'll have to go on the wait list. My friend barely got in and is limited to Sunday only =T
