HELP! Thought this would fit.. fender rolling Q's etc..
Hey guys!
Been lurking on here a lot.. I have an 07 335i E92. Car is currently at the body shop getting repaired after a hit n' run to the driver's side rear fender. The car is dropped on Eibach Multi-Pro R1's and I like them a lot so far. No noise, rattling, etc and it's a great ride. Can go from very soft to very stiff no problem. Anyway, in addition to the coilovers, the car wears 19x8.5 +40/19x9.5 +44 Work XSA 02C wheels shod with 245/35/19 Michelin PS2 and 275/35/19 Nitto Neo Gens. I know the rear tires are what is typically considered oversized. Front has 12mm spacers to make it 28mm effective offset and it sits nice and flush with a good meaty tire. From doing research on fitment here, I knew a roll would be required when I put on my 15mm spacers in the rear to make the effective offset +29. Even with the taller and wider tires, I surmised that it would fit. The car is quite low, and I will post pictures later when I get home. I asked the body shop to roll the rear fenders while it's there. They've rolled the lip past the "flat" part (ie. the part that sits parallel to the ground) and say that that's the best they can do unless I decide to get serious, which will require some trimming potentially and then a repaint. I took pics of the roll they did, and the tires are still hitting the fender closer to the rear, even with more camber (just had an alignment because they had to replace a bent link). I'm unsure as to the exact alignment spec because I forgot to ask for a printout, and I'm sure the body shop didn't request one on their own, but I did tell them to max it out (which shouldn't be much more than stock from what I understand on stock sport suspension). I would love to be able to keep this tire size on until it's time to replace them, but they are quite new aside from some damage to the sidewall (still 80%+ tread). Any way I can get this to fit? As I said before, I will post pics, but I figured I'd get the actual question posted first. It should be noted that without the rear spacers, there is zero rubbing (1% maybe, on the *inside*) and the tire is actually tucked slightly at the current ride height. I might lower the front another 1/3 of an inch. I'm wondering if the roll was done well essentially... I thought they could roll it more, but they say they can't flatten out the lip more than where it's at. Thanks in advance for any help on the subject. If there's anything I've missed, I'll provide more info asap. Remember, pics to come! |

I think you should be able to roll them out more. Try heating the fender up with a heat gun and slowly pulling the fender out. Remember, it is made of metal which is malleable and won't break that easily. (unlike the front plastic fender )

be sure to remove the inner Seal before you roll it, if that is still in the crease it wont flatten pout all the way.
With your offset and tire size, i dont doubt that you are hitting the mounting point for the rearbumper/quarterpanel area also, which would have to be shaved down to allow for the tire to clear when the body travels. Pictures would really help us make a better call on your setup also |

Dunno why the last two pics didn't work...
Could they have rolled it more? As you can see in the pic, the "flat" part of the lip is not rolled, just what's past it (what you can't see in the pic, past the tire). Can they roll the flat part?!?! They say no! |

That part is very THICK, if you roll that youll end up pulling (mini flare). Reduce spacer size and stretch the tire. Meaty aggressive and flush dont get along.

Wow... You have way too much tire on that thing.
options are: Smaller spacers (keep et in the mid to low 30's) Smaller tire, try a 275/30/19 which is the correct size, 35 series is too tall. Shave the fenders |

Yes I recommend a wider patch low profile stretch over small patch vs tall profile any day. (255/30 vs 245/ vs 235/35)
255/30/ 7.2 245/35 8.1 235/35 7.8 with 10.5, a 9.5 the ratio would be a bit higher. From experience and just looking at the stretch ratio numbers, the 255/30 would give you the greater stretch angle while utilizing most of the contact patch at any given camber. The lower the ratio the more stretch would be. Anything around 6-7.5 would give you a 45 degree angle which is more desired for clearance. This of course can vary with tire manufacture, but for the most part. Sumitomo/Generals/kumho/hankook/achilles/yokos are very similar vs the falkens /T1R'sH/potenzas Last edited by Tee212; 09-21-2011 at 07:22 PM.. |

Just go down to 275/30/19 and you'll be fine. I'm running 275/30 on 19x10 ET25 with an aggressive fender roll and it doesn't rub.

Reason for 265/30/19s is because a friend has 2 at his shop that have been there for well over a year and will let them go for a very "aggressive" price. Pretty much a song. I should be much better off with that size, no? |
