Need help. Vorsteiner e90 hood install.

I bought a vorsteiner hood.

First issue is that no holes exist for the hood struts, is this normal?

Second, the oem hood struts can not support the carbon fiber hood. Are there different struts I need to buy support the hood???

Thanks for the help in advance.

Mike

Typically when people see photos they feed into the post more.... Let see if this helps!!!

How is the fitment of the hood? Does the Quality meet your expectations?

I asked the same question about the hood struts...

The fitment is pretty good.

The roundel indentation and drilled holes is a bit off therefore my roundel is not fitting quite right/centered.

The inability to prop my hood up is really what is driving me insane. Hood should have come with holes and rivets to screw in the oem struts. Its really driving me insane that I have a bad ass vehicle and when i go to a show I'll need a broomstick to prop it up. Super F#() ghetto for a BMW. A bit disappointing to be honest.

Yea I've seen people use wooden sticks.

Get a carbon fiber rod if you want it to be less ghetto, I guess.

I have a V35 hood and don't ever plan on putting it in a car show, so a "broomstick" works just fine. I use a hanger rod and keep it stored in the trunk, suspended to the roof of the rear shelf via velcro zip ties. Nice to have it as dual-purpose item. The metal hooks at each end lock it into the hood latch so there's not much worry of bumping it and having the hood come down.

Get a shop to 'glue' or modify the hood to use the struts... i'm sure it's possible. (i'm just assuming, i don't actually have this hood or any aftermarket body parts for that matter)

OEM struts can't support the hood? Is the CF heavier than stock??

Drill holes, insert strut mounts?

if you purchase a gas cylender thats capable of supporting the load of the hood, attach it to the car, make sure it has a detachable end that can be 'glued' the hood (in case the cylinder needs to be replaced down then road). Attach that end to the hood with Marine 5200 adhesive, available at a marine store or online. if you attach it with 5200, the fastener plate isnt coming off unless part of the hood goes with it...

they use 5200 on yachts to attach metal tuna tower legs to fiberglass decks, the stuff is serious business and takes a long time to cure.

It is not recommended to use the original struts as the carbon hood is so much lighter. Maybe see what Vorsteiner suggests.

I bought Seibon hood and it had threaded holes for the struts. I used struts from M3 (struts have less pressure for the aluminum hood). It works perfectly.
